Vanity: What the Left means by "compromise"

Posted on 07/31/2011 12:51:06 PM PDT by Maceman

So you're walking down the street. Suddenly you are accosted by a gun-wielding thug who demands you hand him your wallet.

You hand him the wallet, which has $200 in cash in it, and beg him not to take the money because it's all you have to live on for the next three weeks."

The thug decides to be a "nice guy," and says: "Look, I understand you have to eat too. So I'm gonna help you out, I'm only going to take $100, and you can keep the other $100."

You say: "But I need the whole $200."

The thug says: "I want your $200, and you don't want to give me anything. Here I am, willing to compromise with you and split the difference. I'm being fair, but you are just being unreasonable and locked into an extreme position!"

With that, the thug says: "Because you are being absolutely stubborn about this, I'm going to punch you in the face 100 times."

You say to thug: "Don't punch me, take the wallet."

The thug says: "Well, just to show you I'm still willing to be reasonable and compromise with you, I'll take the whole $200, but I'm only going to punch you in the face 50 times. That way, neither of us gets everything we want. And if we're both unhappy, that means it's a fair deal. You should take it, or else I'm going to shoot you."

What they mean by compromise ‘bend over while Barney makes a run for some lube’.

‘Mumbles’ Reid and ‘Cryin Time’ Boehner both think that Compromise is interchangeable with B.O.H.I.C.A.

I like the idea from yesterday: ‘some TSH suggested Boehner just go back to the “Cap & Trade Bill” since it had already passed. Then let them (Reid and BO) do what they wished with it.

When all Reid and BO can say is “I don’t care what you send up here, it is DOA” and the press still ‘blames’ the (non existent) Tea Party for the woes of the country.

Funny how those that are ‘sticking to their guns’ by doing what they promised to do are getting threatened and demonized, while those that say ‘no’ (or yes) just because of what their (so called) leadership proposes are being hailed as ‘heroes’.

Give me the guy/gal that sticks to their principles, not the party line, and we are on a start to ‘fixing’ the problems.

Compromise means bend over for Dems.
Democracy means socialism.
Common ground means left of Center.
What else?

The problem isn’t reid, it’s Boehner. The RINOs always sell out - it’s their JOB. The Rats haven’t put together a budget in three years. Reid has no plan. The economy is tanking because the Rats shovel money to the banks and boost every possible government payout.

The “problem” is simple - cut the spending. It has nothing to do with whether or not to increase the debt. Michelle Bachman has been pounding on this, and she’s not only right, she’s ridiculously obvious.

Except for one thing - she, and the rest of the Tea Party people, should focus on the cost, the spending, the debt, that goes into supporting and providing services for ILLEGAL MEXICANS.

Subtract that expenditure, and there’s no crisis, debt plummets, services for Americans stay intact and jobs increase dramatically.

It’s a One Stop Solution.

‘bend over while Barney makes a run for some lube’

That gives new meaning to the "Balanced Approach" mantra

I was thinking of a similar analogy while posting on another thread. The notion that there is no longer the right, or even the expectation of private property.

Everything belongs to the government, and the rule of Consstituional law has been suspended; by the very elected criminals who created the problem.

That makes the followint possible :
Tax cuts are a government expense, since the ultimate decision of what you may keep is the government's. Tax rates are the sole prerogative of the government and, by definition, there is no limit.

The Social Contract (undefined) compels us to care for the poor and the helpless, no matter how many or what the cost. The government is the only permissible body which decides who qualifies.

Resistance to these creative interpretations of our Constitution is treason, a Federal felony and subject to permanent incarceration at a Federal Re-education facility.

How has it come to this?

The last several weeks has been nothing but political theater, a dress rehearsal, for the 2012 campaign. It's all manufactured to create sound-bites for the evening news.

The non-war in Libya and Gunrunner to Mexico are off the editor's list of meaningful stories.
