How the Tea Party Won the Deal (The media is setting conservatives up folks, DANGER)
Daily Beast via Yahoo News ^ | August 1st | Peter Beinart

Posted on 08/01/2011 7:49:23 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

While the details of the debt ceiling deal remain fuzzy, this much is clear: Barack Obama may be president, but the Tea Party is now running Washington. How did this happen? Simple; this is what American politics looks like when there’s no left-wing movement and no war.

Let’s start with the first point. Liberals are furious that President Obama agreed to massive spending cuts, and the promise of more, without any increase in revenues. They should be: Given how much the Bush tax cuts have contributed to the deficit (and how little they’ve spurred economic growth), it’s mind-boggling that they’ve apparently escaped this deficit-reduction deal unscathed.

But there’s a reason for that: since the economy collapsed in 2008, only one grassroots movement has emerged in response, and it’s been a movement of the right. Compare that with what happened during the Depression. In 1933, Franklin Roosevelt assumed the presidency and launched the hodgepodge of domestic programs that historians call the first New Deal. By 1935, however, he was looking warily over his left shoulder at Huey Long, whose “Share our Wealth” movement demanded that incomes be capped at $1 million and every family be guaranteed an income no less than one-third the national average.

On the major points, this article is nothing but lies. There *IS* a left wing movement, the tea party *HAS NOT* won. The fact that there's a deal at all is proof.

The Washington, DC Party and their propagandists in the state media, and their hacks in the new media, even on FreeRepublic, are all spinning, ie lying, at warp speed today. I hope they don’t throw the earth off its axis!

hahahaha don’t you get it? The economy was recovering before the Tea Party gutted the budget and threw us into a double-dip recession. Wait for it... ;-)

“but the Tea Party is now running Washington.”

Ri-iii-ght. The TEA Party would agree to fantasy spending cuts amounting to a week’s Federal spending “sometime over the next ten years”.

So now Obama and his people can force a Cloward-Piven total col;lapse and blame someone else (other than Bush).

The democrats are planning on running against the Tea Party Boogeyman in 2012.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for the left to run on a positive uplifting message. They need to run against someone.

The fact that liberal Beinart wrote this article is also proof.

There was a similar WaPo piece that also declared the TP the winner.

If the MSM says the Tea Party won, than it probably didn’t.

yep. Just like after the 2011 CR. The media wants to make the people think we won so we become responsible for future downgrades and downturns. Boehner and all need to go on the offensive today and speak to the American people that they moved the ball 2 yard, but have 98 to go. That the economy is weighed down by a massive debt and our credit rating remains in danger because we could only get minimal cooperation from the Democrats who control 2/3 of the process.

No celebrating. This is a minor victory in a skirmish that is the beginning of a long process to rein in an out of control government.

The author lies and lies and lies.

Obama can only dream about 7.7% GDP!

Well I am not going to worry that some extreme radical like Beinart, writing on a whacked out site, says that the left has no movement in US politics today. That is delusional and out of touch. This guy is out of his mind as usual.

Given how much the Bush tax cuts have contributed to the deficit (and how little they’ve spurred economic growth)...

Is this guy totally stupid? You don't get economic growth under conditions of uncertainty. Make permanent tax and spending cuts, including tax cuts for businesses, and watch what happens. It amazes me that someone with a journalism major is all of a sudden an economics expert.

I hope you’re right. I would like nothing more than to ruin husseins big 50th bash while conservatives show they really care more about saving this country than belonging to a bunch of elitists congresscritter club who care more about their potential to make millions.

I noted articles op-eds in both Washington Post and NY Times, written by the
Center for American Progress (a noted leftie think-tank) complaining about the US debt, generally sounding like Conservatives - and calling for a 3RD PARTY IN 2012.

Splitting the Republican/Conservative vote by with a 3rd party candidate is Obama’s ONLY CHANCE - and the Progressives know it. Expect the MSM to chime in any time on this theme also
