It's absolutely idiotic to pile on more debt and continue spending when you're already so deeply in debt that you can never get out.

On this and many other issues. I've been underwhelmed by the republicans for years. Basically since Reagan's presidency ended, and he did some stuff I wasn't happy with too - like signed the full auto ban and grew federal spending while he was in office.

Right. This is a minor reduction in the rate of increase (maybe) and a cover for a tax increase plan. It has become the government vs. the people and no amount of writing, calling, or marching seems to stop them.

It saddens me to know that no one in Washington has the cajones to do the right thing to fix this mess. This so-called deal looks slap-dash, haphazard and not at all effective in solving the debt problem. Even worse, it gives the spender-in-chief power to squander what little money is left. The ceiling should not have been raised.
