House Won’t Provide 72 Hours to Review Budget Control Act (Heritage recalls Boehner's pledge)
Heritage Foundation ^ | August 1st | Rob Bluey

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) repeatedly criticized Democrats last year for voting on legislation that members didn’t have time to read. "Read the Bill" language was even included in the GOP's Pledge to America to ensure lawmakers would have adequate notice to review legislation.

"Neither members of Congress or the public were given time to read the trillion-dollar stimulus before it passed. Nobody read the cap-and-trade bill. Nobody read the budget. And yet Democrats approved them anyway," Boehner said in a video last year. “Every major bill should be posted online and publicly available for at least 72 hours."

Boehner is a lying scumbag, unworthy of support or respect. He is a waste.

Let me guess after all the Cong hullabaloo. No real cuts in spending, no capping the government debt, and taxes to come later.

"This isn't news. The House rule is not 72 hrs anyway. It's "3 calendar days" excluding weekends and holidays when the House isn't in session. A bill posted at 11:59pm on Monday can be voted on 12:01am on Wednesday. The rule could always be suspended and did not apply to emergency bills... The immoveable deadline is tomorrow. There was no time left to comply with the "pledge," let along the rule. Thanks to their obstructionism, Democrats ran the clock out making it IMPOSSIBLE for the GOP not to break this "pledge." BLAME OBAMA. BLAME REID."

"I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT!! I SWEAR TO GOD!!"...

“Stop shooting your own side!”

How about you stop making excuses for inside the beltway RINOs? Boner and company are not on my side, they are part of the problem.

He is just the head crook in a place filled with crooks.

You can not trust him in anytime.

You know how to tell a Congressman is not telling the truth, they open their month.

Plus, the GOP got almost everything they wanted for 2012 in this bill.

Like Zero's new credit line, and nothing tangible or enforceable in cuts? Yah that's what the GOP wanted for 2012, if Romney's yer man.

Wait...

You don’t know what you’re talking about. 1/3 of control put the Dems on the defensive, and we can revisit it in 6 months.

So who will be left standing? The rinos or the Tea Party? Boehner definitely chose his side tonight.

You bet. A few more rounds, and those in D.C. will leave America penniless and dead on the floor.

BLAME OBAMA. BLAME REID. Stop shooting your own side!

With all respect, BS!

With "leaders" like Boehner and McConnell, we don't need enemies. Today, Boehner and McConnell gave the Democrats something for nothing -- more borrowed cash to spend now in exchange for the slim chance that a future Congress might think about having a discussion about considering whether it might study the remote possibility of holding phony debates over slight reductions in the future rate of automatic spending increases in further outlying years. And best of all for the Obama and the Democrats, this new credit card won't expire until AFTER the 2012 elections!

This was a total betrayal and capitulation by the the Vichy Republican leadership. By their actions, Boehner and McConnell have proven that they are not on my side. They are on the side of the permanent Government which feathers their lifetime, inflation-adjusted nests.

I am so sick of the Pubs on these threads who constantly knock Boehner. You go try doimg the job of herding cats and see how far you get. The bill as I understand it, is only 74 pages long, so there’s not that much to read. It’s not like the healthcare bill, that was miles long. And Boehner, due to the Dems, had no way to adhere to the 72 hour rule. I think there are a bunch of curmudgeons that lurk on these threads that are negative about just everything. Too bad they show up with such regularity. Pubs can be so much like a circular firing squad that it makes me ill to contemplate, so I won’t.
