FULL TITLE: Al Capone's son threatened to kill late Senator Ted Kennedy just weeks after his brother Robert was assassinated
Previously unseen FBI documents have revealed the son of legendary mobster Al Capone drunkenly threatened to 'assassinate' the late Senator Edward Kennedy. Three weeks after his brother Senator Robert Kennedy was shot dead in Los Angeles, Albert 'Sonny' Capone was overheard in a Miami restaurant saying Ted Kennedy might 'get it too'.
The 1968 threat was revealed in a newly-released part of the former Massachusetts senator's FBI file, which is almost entirely made up of threats against the youngest Kennedy brother.
It is likely to fuel conspiracy theories that the mob was involved in the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy.
According to the file, a man overheard Capone, 50, make a call from a public phone at the New England Oyster House in Coral Gables, Florida, on June 24, 1968. At one point in the conversation, witnesses claimed he said: 'If Edward Kennedy keeps fooling around he was going to get it, too.'
Capone identified himself after asking the operator to bill the call to his home in Palm Island and he 'appeared intoxicated', the report states.
Despite being the son of a mob figure Capone - who died in 2004, is thought to have led a law-abiding life, including working as a florist.

A great example of a missed opportunity.
Mary Jo would still be alive if he followed through.
I always thought they got the wrong Kennedy.
Oh, so that’s when Teddy decided to capitulate to everything illegal and protect crooks - to keep his sorry @ss alive.
Ted is dead, but his evil legacy lives on.
Bite my tongue.
yes, one man wrecking crew. his desire to destroy
usa knew no bounds.
I wonder what the percentage of death threats were “political” (nutcases and the like wanting to shoot a Kennedy) and what percentage were “personal” (fathers of daughters)?
Ted Kennedy would attract both types, not to mention bartenders with unpaid bar tabs...
I once saw an article that said that Sirhan Sirhan would not have been
let into the country, for the Ted Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act.
So, he's responsible for the death of his brother, among thousands of other Americans.
The Kennedy family - life’s version of Whack-A-Mole.
Ted Kennedy was a POS
and think how different the world would be if he had succeeded....
- No Open Borders or immigration lottery
- Chief Justice Robert Bork
- no cottage industry in tasteless Chappaquiddick jokes
- etc. etc. etc.
Of course it might have also meant a second term for Jimmy Carter without the life-draining primary challenge.
Didn’t say it. But definitely thought it...
“Threats”??? I missed Capone’s “threats” in that article.
I think a journalist was up against a Tuesday Deadline. LOL!
I suspect these revelations are to generate support for Vicky Kennedy to run against Scott Brown. When the going got tough for the Kennedys, they always waved the bloody shirt.
Darn those Capone’s were not good for anything.
“’If Edward Kennedy keeps fooling around he was going to get it, too.’
If that is a “threat”, I should have been in prison a very long time ago.
Sonny Capone couldn’t order a hit. He wasn’t in the mob. Plus the Kennedy gang was friends with the Capone gang going back to Joe’s days running the Boston Irish mob.
Notice that Bobby’s war on organized crime never touched the Chicago guys. In fact he and John partied with them while he was going after Italian mobsters elsewhere.
The truth is Bobby was going after Joe’s old rivals and using the government as a tool to carry out Joe’s vendettas.
Besides, there was no need to hit Teddy. He was the Fredo Corleone of the Kennedy family.
