Here is the live proceedings of the debate prior to the final floor vote of the Senate of the 112th Congress of the United States of America.
Reid is speaking now, all the speakers are reading the same script “This deal isn’t perfect but we did it anyway”, “Came down to the wire but the American people got us to do it and we did it for them”, etc.
No mention of the new super committee being set up and how this deal doesn’t cut enough to avoid a downgrade. No mention of how this is a punt to avoid another showdown before the 2012 election.
So far no filibusters. Take a good look people the debt ceiling won’t be talked about for years.
Obama . “ WOO-HOO ! 7 TRILLION for me to spend. No debt ceiling to worry about next year. My Stimulus ‘ gets locked into all future budgets. Bush cuts expire and my re-election campaign just got huge wind in it`s sails thanks to the GOP/RINOs “

So far I am surprised by some of the ‘no’ votes, including at least one member of ‘the gang of six’ Coburn.
I turned on the TV just in time to hear dirty Harry say, “A majority of republicans, democrats and independents want a revenue increase.” I screamed “LIAR” and promptly turned the TV off. Thanks a lot Sharon Angle.........

It kinda sucks though, if you vote no, you can’t be on the “super committee” that gets to decide what gets cut.

Now comes the fighting over who will be on the super duper select committee. In the Senate, my top pick would be Jeff Sessions. He digs into things and seems to have a handle on the “numbers”.
Exactly. My Congresscritter said he was against raising the Debt Limit unless “real change and real spending cuts” was part of the deal.
He voted in favor of the bill.
I sent him an email asking why he lied to his constituents.
I don’t expect a response....
The TEA party stopped the Senate for over 800 days of not passing a budget, Senator Reid?
