One thing the Tea Party needs to do now is track all the money that is going to be used for the debt ceiling and see where it goes. I’d bet it goes to friends of the WH.

Though a Palin supporter, I take issue with the word "victory." She was referring to the fact that it would have been much worse if not for the Tea Party - and in that way it's more positive than negative.

She could have said, "better than hoped for," or "not perfect but ok," or "something we can live with for now."

But "victory" it isn't. Doesn't even make a dent in spending.

As a supporter I do not expect perfection from her. I reserve the right to disagree if appropriate. But I would crawl over broken glass to vote for her.

She admitted it wasn’t a “victory” of substance, just changed the debate in the right direction.

Greta Van Susteren seemed to think it was a great victory with her line of questioning.....

It was actually a nasty smackdown of the Tea party by the establishment. The condescending treatment from the media and the establishment, as though there was some victory for the Tea Party, is so irritating. It has that “well, lets give the dumb little hilljacks a pat on the back and make ‘em think they won, but we sure showed them”, feel to it.

There was no victory for anyone and failure for all.

Nothing was accomplished but more debt. We will all find out that nothing will be cut. This just puts off the debt fight until later.

...the door is still open for tax hikes.

Then there WILL be a tax increase.

Dimocrat's are like cockroaches, if they smell food they will get to it somehow if it is in a sealed container.

ROTFLMAO

“Who’s gonna start the “pray for Sarah to run” thread?”

Sarah, a woman who knows All about ‘Victory’. After hitching her wagon to Canvasback McCain.

One More ‘Victory’ like this and we’re Done For.

Greta had just waxed eloquent about what a great ‘victory’ it had been for the tea party, before asking Palin a leading question.

Palin was IMO largely being polite in acknowledging some baseline of Greta’s assumption before challenging it.

“a Pyrrhic victory for the ruling class “

It looks so, time will tell.

What a load of bunk. The Bill consists of two things: a definite raise of the debt limit, and a bunch of uncertain, indefinite promises to do something. Reid is already insisting that part of that something be tax hikes. Victory my four-legged beast of burden.

You have to remember, FREEPERS are not main stream voters, we are not even main stream Republicans. We are on the right side fringe.
There is never going to be the perfect candidate for all of us. The closest to perfect candidate I ever had the privilege to ever know was Barry Goldwater, but with his stand on abortion how many FREEPERS would now back him?
Sometimes we just have to take what we can get. We may not like it, but it may be the best we can do.

Also remember the marketing aspect of politics. People are attracted to winners. And all most people know about anything are the sound-bites they hear. Saying “The Tea Party lost this big time” would not help draw people to it. People hearing a sound bite that the Tea Party was victorious while also hearing the dems moan and groan will help draw people to it. She is working this for long term benefit. Remember, she “goes rogue” and thinks outside of the box.

Sarah Palin is the only bonafide outsider I see as a potential presidential candidate right now......

I’m not sure about Bachmann or Cain completely, although they have positioned themselves against the establishment on occasion.

Ron Paul is way out there on national defense....I oppose the wars overseas because they are 21st Century hi-tech versions of the no-win war in Vietnam. I believe wars should be won, not run away from.

Perry is Bush 43 3.0 talking one way and acting another with Pawlenty and Romney obvious RINO’s.

Good point. I’m sure she’s proud of McCain’s floor speech.

I’m sure if she runs she’ll work it around the book signings, reality TV shows, bus tours and movie premiers to show how serious she is.

I don’t think Sarah has drunk the Kool Aid on this.

But Greta Van Susteren had a red stain on her face spinning the vote as “victory” for the Tea Party.

Outsiders of the political establishment don’t generally repeat Charles K. argument advanced a few days earlier that simply talking about debt is a victory.

I think this is what JR was addressing with this post on another thread on this topic.

To: what's up; Carling

You’re an idiot RINO propagandist:
“Regarding the debt limit deal, she went on to say that while it is a victory to change the debate toward talking about the debt, there is much more work to be done. She does acknowledge that the debt limit deal is a step in the right direction but she doesn’t like giving what she believes may be the most liberal President in US history another 2 trillion dollars that we don’t have with no major reforms.”

This thread covers the same attack on Palin that you just posted.

No, Sarah agreed with Greta that the Tea Party’s changing of the conversation to focus on spending was a partial victory.

That’s it. She never said anything remotely like “this bill is a victory”.

It’s embarrassing, but not unexpected, that Molly Ball at Politico was more accurate in her reporting than the PDS Freepers that started this thread and continue to push their lies.

On one of the previous threads, that were locked for spreading propaganda through false headlines, no links, and smears, JimRob called them out for their lies.

Happily he pointed out that most don’t have much more time here at FR.
