The owner of a Venice health food market and two other people were arrested on charges related to the allegedly unlawful production and sale of unpasteurized dairy products, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

The arrests of James Cecil Stewart, Sharon Ann Palmer and Eugenie Bloch on Wednesday marked the latest effort in a government crackdown on the sale of so-called raw dairy products.

When you have natural immunitities...these things aren't a problem

Humans possess natural immunities to salmonella, listeria, E. coli, Brucella species, coxiella burnetti, Campylobacter jejuni and so on? I don't think so.

If you want access to raw milk and raw milk products, fine. You should be entitled to purchase them if you want. However, please don't try and tell us that we survived just fine before pasteurization or that humans, especially children, possess natural immunities to the many pathogens present in raw milk. That just isn't so.

No. The homogenization process turns the milk fat into a transfat.

I don't think you know the difference between homogenization and hydrogenation. It's an important distinction. Emulsifying a food doesn't make it dangerous. That's just silly.

Milk does contain naturally occurring trans fat that contains CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). Some scientists believe CLA helps prevent heart disease. Of course, anyone with an understanding of food science and human physiology knows that the whole artificial trans fat kerfuffle is much ado about nothing.

Again, believing that potentially deadly pathogens found in raw milk pose less of a hazard to humans than the process of homogenization is big time wacky.

So, you have a lot of stock in ADM?

No, but I have a graduate degree in biochemistry/food science and 25 years of industry experience.

If I did own lots of stock in ADM, would that be a bad thing to you?

If you enjoy ignorant propaganda.

They are at war with everything that extends life, and raw milk is high on that list.

Pasteur reenounced his “germ theory” on his death bed to Antoine Bechamp and Claude Bernard, and declared “The germ is nothing, the soil is everything.”

Unfortunately, the GOP is just as bad on this issue, if not worse. The GOP is deeply in bed with the pharmaceutical industry. Sad but true.

No, it isn’t silly. Pasteurized milk is one of the big players in “type II” diabetes, and in Crone’s disease.

Why pasteurized milk as opposed to raw milk?

What you choose to think has nothing to do with reality. Susceptibility to organisms is rooted in incorrect body geography. Pasteur did admit that on his death bed.

And they say that now in Paris, France, even as we speak..Louis Pasteur has devised a new vaccine that will obliterate anthrax once and for all.

Raw milk contains all the natural enzymes that make it digestable; pasteurization destroys them completely. It also is high in CLA, an important fat in controlling heart disease, Alzheimers, and many other conditions.

So, is pasteurization responsible for the increase in lactose intolerant adults?

I’m not crazy about milk as it is, I don’t know if I could stomach raw milk. Some of my neighbors drink the raw goat’s milk from their goats. Is there much of a difference in appearance and taste?
