Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday signed into law a measure ... addressing controversy over an anti-abortion demonstration.

Assemblyman Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) said he wrote the measure in response to a March 2003 incident in which graphic images of an aborted fetus were mounted on a vehicle and driven past a middle school in Rancho Palos Verdes.

"Because of the disturbing nature of the photographs, some students at the scene became angry, some began to cry...’’ Mendoza said.

The bill was signed three years after a federal court found that the 1st Amendment rights of anti-abortion activists were violated when they were ordered to stop circling Dodson Middle School in a truck with billboard-sized photos of aborted fetuses...

So, these cretins are concerned that these pre-teens and teens were exposed to a picture of an aborted fetus? Where is their outrage at the things on T.V. today that dipicts just as much gore and/or sexually explicit acts that our children are exposed to on a daily basis? What, you say? The things on T.V. do not play into their liberal indoctrination of our children that killing babies is okay?

“I guess to each their own. IMHO I think the graphic images may due more harm than good. I don’t think it converts anyone to becoming pro-life it just causes a greater divide between the two sides. What do I know though? I am just one guy.”

I agree, but there is a bigger issue. A federal court has said this (admittedly stupid) action is Constitutionally protected Free Speech. Govt moonbeam doesn’t care. He’s going to trample on pro-lifers’ right because he thinks he can.

That issue trumps the rest IMO...

I stand corrected. First time I’ve read about the images having a real world positive impact.

Wow.

In many cases, the middle school will help conceal a 13 year old girl’s pregnancy and provide transportation to the abortion mill without her parents’ knowledge.

I guess “never” is a strong word. I am not naive enough to think my children will be pristine virgins until they get married. My oldest is 22 and she is not a virgin. I also teach my children about safe sex and about the consequenses of not protecting themselves. Luckily my two oldest girls have not had one pregnancy scare, as far as I know. All of my kids know that a fetus is a living human being.

My wife is a teacher at the high school all of my kids went or currently go to. When I asked her if they have ever sent girls to abortion clinics she laughed at me. She said that would never happen in a million years at her school. She even asked her best friend, who is a guidance counselor, if that ever happens. She said that they do have to counsel girls who get pregnant but they get the parents involved and have no business sending anyone to an abortion clinic.
