NATO plans campaign in Syria, tightens noose around Iran - Rogozin
Topic: Protests in Syria

MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti)
NATO is planning a military campaign against Syria to help overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad with a long-reaching goal of preparing a beachhead for an attack on Iran, Russia's envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said.
The UN Security Council condemned on Wednesday ongoing violence in Syria and urged the country's authorities to stop using force against peaceful protesters, while saying the current situation in the country has not yet called for NATO interference.
"[This statement] means that the planning [of the military campaign] is well underway. It could be a logical conclusion of those military and propaganda operations, which have been carried out by certain Western countries against North Africa," Rogozin said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper published on Friday.
The Russian diplomat pointed out at the fact that the alliance is aiming to interfere only with the regimes "whose views do not coincide with those of the West."

free market supporter, thats why hes taking control of the press and TV? Hes been busy trying to throw businessmen who oppose him into prison, or poison/kill them (like independent journalists).
Because press and TV are political weapons and only businessmen he's going after are those that have politically opposed him.
Putin isn't stupid. He lived in soviet communism and all it's idiocies, gaining insight that few westerners can match. He wants Russia to regain the superpower position that USSR, knows it needs a well-functioning economy for that and is simply smart enough to avoid unnecessary meddling.
Business itself doesn't care for freedom. As long as the regulatory environment is stable and predictable enough, property rights are honored and taxes (or bribes) are reasonable, business can prosper even if the country is ruled by a strongman.

Putin is both stupid and evil. He served communism loyally all his life and was devastated when the Berlin Wall and his evil dreams came tumbling down before his eyes. He knows he cannot remake the Soviet Union and allow freedom to flourish. For him to resurrect the Soviet Union as a power which opposes the USA he must extinguish his people's freedom. To direct Russian businesses as weapons against the USA and against his own people he must bring back the Soviet Command Economy which he is doing. He has betrayed his people and he is destroying Russia like he and his stupid communist comrades destroyed the USSR.
Putin is the enemy of Russia and the world.

Hey, it turns out he's not wrong.
Of course you realize that the price will be to support Palishittian statehood.
