WASHINGTON (AP) — Two senators and former presidential candidates say Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade the U.S. credit rating speaks to the need for more bipartisan compromise — but they also say the blame lay with the other party.

TwoViet Nam Veterans.

One brainwashed in a POW camp and the other served 3 months before our own troops warned him to go home.

“[T]he fabled and distinguished chief of naval operations,Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, told me —30 years ago when he was still CNO [chief naval officer in Vietnam] that during his own command of U.S. naval forces in Vietnam, just prior to his anointment as CNO, young Kerry had created great problems for him and the other top brass,by killing so many non-combatant civilians and going after other non-military targets. “We had virtually to straitjacket him to keep him under control”, the admiral said. “Bud” Zumwalt got it right when he assessed Kerry as having large ambitions —but promised that his career in Vietnam would haunt him if he were ever on the national stage.”

but soon the reckoning will come
the downfall of Tweedledee and Tweedledum”

It’s really Tweedledum and Tweedledumber.

Both of you imbeciles are to blame: your attitude that the federal government is the be-all and end-all, and your buying of votes, has gotten us to this juncture.

If there is a massive collapse of the US economy, it will be worth it all, if the collapse forces this nation and its peoples to its founding principles.

Absolutely! There can be NO negotiations with Kerry. To negotiate with him and Dems like him--i.e. Shumer, Pelosi, Reid, Franks, etc., is to capitulate and give them everything they want. Otherwise, you are "holding America hostage", when in reality, they are the hostage takers.

The Dems own this crisis, with some help from Bush's aversion to using the bully pulpit in an agressive manner. The Dems had Congress the last two years of Bush'd admin; they and Clinton before them, owned the collapse of the mortgage junk bond empire. The Dems have been out of comliance with the law of the land for more than 2 years concerning a budget.

They do not even seem concerned about the downgrade because they are what Senator Grassly called DC--an island surrounded by reality. To that definition, I would add that they have insulated that island so that the sea of reality surrounding them doesn't even get close enough to lap upon the shore.

“Asking two clueless people who helped cause the problem how to solve the problem could be useful if we realize that whatever they suggest, we should do exactly the opposite.”

I am convinced that McC is in the mid stages of dementia. He denies proven facts. He reminds me of two other AZ Senators, Hayden and Goldwater. Both of them overstayed their brains also. I suspect the female family members have turned him, just as the new Mrs. Goldwater destroyed a good conservative in Barry.

The democrat talking heads are using the same talking point, that this is “a Tea Party downgrade”. It is obvious that theirs is a coordinated response. Kerry said it, Rachel Maddow said it. Why aren’t the republicans calling this what is is, an Obama downgrade. We always seem to have a crap shoot, uncoordinated response. Although I can’t stand him, Lindsey Graham made Howard Dean look stupid. Not a particularly difficult challenge but at least it wasn’t a swing and miss like McCain.

Another question..Why are McLame and Lindsey our teams spokesmen? Are they the only ones asked or are guys like Ryan and Rubio not available?

I suspect the female family members have turned him, just as the new Mrs. Goldwater destroyed a good conservative in Barry.

Unlike Barry Goldwater, Juan McCain has NEVER been a good conservative.

Remember that he took special favors from failing S&Ls right before the 1980s housing crisis exploded.

Remember that he betrayed U.S. POWs and MIAs by shutting down efforts to look for them during the early 1990s Vietnam economic "normalization" debate on Capitol Hill.

Remember that he helped arm the Kosovo Liberation Army, thereby declaring war on Serbian Christians in Kosovo, during the late 1990s under the Clinton administration. He also was crucial to getting the U.S. to militarily intervene on behalf of the KLA, a major player in the European drug trade an an affiliate of al-Qaeda.

Shall I continue?

“Remember that he took special favors from failing S&Ls right before the 1980s housing crisis exploded.”

I recall the investigation showed that to be false.

As to your other allegations, I don't know so I cannot pronounce judgment.

I recall the investigation showed that to be false.

Investigations also showed that Bill Clinton didn't perjure himself.

McCain took his family on multiple vacations to Keating's place in the Bahamas (documented on many news media outlets of record, including The Arizona Republic, The Phoenix Gazette, and even The Economist magazine).

In exchange, McCain joined four Democrat senators (together, the Keating Five) in pressuring Federal regulators to back off investigations into Keating's savings and loan, which subsequently failed at a cost of $2 billion (in 1989 dollars) to the U.S. taxpayer.

After getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar, McCain finally began to reimburse Keating, but he only paid part of the cost of the opulent vacations that Keating provided for him. Hell, he claimed that he thought his wife Cindy (who, by the way, had already started stealing prescription drugs from the charitable organization that she was running) had made the reimbursements to Keating; he never reported any of them on his Senate disclosure forms nor did he report them on his Federal income tax returns, as required by law. (Sounds just like "Turbo Tax Timmy" Geithner!)

As to your other allegations, I don't know so I cannot pronounce judgment.

They are all documented here on FR.

Try a FR search, or perhaps FReepers bokababe and exit82 will educate you about McCain's support for the al-Qaeda affiliate in Kosovo and McCain's abandonment of U.S. POWs and MIAs in Vietnam, respectively.

Oh, and by the way - FUJM!!! Traitor!!!
