Donald Trump says he’s intrigued by a Rick Perry presidential candidacy

Donald Trump flirted with a presidential candidacy earlier this year and decided not to go for the gold. But the New York billionaire this afternoon expressed admiration for another high-profile Republican currently flirting with a presidential run: Rick Perry.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Trump praised the Texas governor, as well as active GOP White House candidate Michele Bachmann and possible contender Sarah Palin.

“I do know the governor of Texas,” Trump told Blitzer. “He’s a very interesting candidate, I think, a very interesting candidate.”

“Donald Trump says he’s intrigued by a Rick Perry presidential candidacy”

Intrigued by shiny objects, too. AND great hair and an empty suit? The Donald is quite a man.

Regardless of who Trump likes, I would like to hear him ask one question.....”How do you feel about communism and what is you opinion on how to get rid of communists in our country and government?” The ask if they have see this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQf_QfitmKE&feature=player_embedded#at=23

I don’t know what you see in this guy. He’s a flip-flopper on Abortion and Gay Marriage (states vs federal control). He doesn’t appear to have deep core beliefs (1988 Gore Texas campaign chairman). Perry changed to Republican in 1989 when it became politically convenient after the Dukakis debacle in 1988.

I completely agree, and then there’s the guardisil vaccine scandal he has. I’ll vote independent before I vote for Perry.

Trump said that 10 weeks ago. He's a businessman and isn't going to wait endlessly for a potential hire to fill out an employment application. There's a great candidate making his case for the job and Trump is interested.

Translation: If Romney gets the nomination Trump will run and guarantee a 2nd Obama term.

Perry changed to Republican in 1989 when it became politically convenient after the Dukakis debacle in 1988.

Perry was one of the "pit bulls" members who, starting in 1984, sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increase. He joined Phil Gramm and a lot of conservative Texas Democrats on the Right side of the aisle.

Leaders of Perry’s fundraising operation sent information on how to raise money for a presidential campaign to potential bundlers — the people who will be tasked with raising hundreds of thousands or dollars, or more, from their friends and business associates. For example, the guidelines included an explanation of the $2,500 per-person limit on donations to Perry’s campaign for the Republican nomination, according to numerous sources familiar with the instructions.

Sending information to bundlers is not the same as raising money. But it’s another sign of what has become fairly obvious, which is that Perry will announce for the Republican presidential nomination very soon. Sensing that momentum is on his side, Perry’s team wants a quick show of force as soon as he enters the campaign ...

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is expected to announce his presidential plans shortly after the Ames Straw Poll this coming weekend, and his supporters are already soliciting contributions for the campaign, according to an e-mail from a Perry supporter.

The e-mail from Gene Powell, a real-estate executive who Perry appointed to the University of Texas board of regents, states, “We expect that announcement in a week to ten days” and tells people to start writing checks today.

If Romney gets the nomination Trump will run and guarantee a 2nd Obama term.

And that will be exactly what Republicans will deserve.

Unfair.

The Donald is a gifted at real estate and self promotion, and from what I've heard he doesn't mind rubbing shoulders with the common Joe, unlike the typical elitist.

That may be, but in the climate of “I’m sick of ‘insiders - we want ‘candidates “for” the people’”, Perry seems like an ‘insider’ to me. Someone who will very easily cozy up to Republican establishment just to “make Perry look good”.
