Do you think you can manage to get a Perry for President yard sign in another year or do you want someone here to make you get one?

That is not too creative. How about a wrap for one of my boats? If you pay for it. It can say "Perry for President". For a 35 ft Fountain.

By the way, did you know that after speaking with Rick Perry about what Texas does for small businesses, that Glenn Beck decided to put his new internet / TV adventure (about 150 employees to start, I think) in Texas and is personally moving to a Dallas, TX suburb?

Beck isn’t moving to a Dallas suburb. He’s not even moving to the same County as Dallas. He’s moving to Southlake in NE Tarrant County, S of Grapevine Lake and W of Grapevine TX and the DFW airport.

Good on ya for the explanation you provided in your posting #36, DRey!!

Many of the Perry bashers likely know nothing of Texas political history. Being a “war baby” (’42), I grew up in a Democrat dominated Texas. People here should have noticed the shift of the Dems toward the left much sooner than the ‘80s, as LBJ really ruined the country with his “Great Society” BS which took the $$ out of the SS lockbox to fund his welfare programs. ....I’ll admit that I voted for LBJ’s election, but after I witnessed what he did I switched over to voting for GOP candidates (as did many Conservatives). Perry was just a little late in switching over.

Don’t be fooled by the shiny boots, or infatuated by the slick hair. Especially don’t be fooled by a former dim who was the campaign chair in Texas for Al Gore. What idiot would do that? Now he thinks he can be the GOP nominee?

Sadly, in the world of GOP these days, he has a shot. But I wouldn’t give him a nickel for any of his multi thousand dollar boots supplied him by his loyal lobbyists. Anyone who does, hasn’t vetted him proper.

I find him as obnoxious as Jimmy Swaggart in drag.

Perry could plead insanity for the time he campaigned for Al Gore. But I am still not sure it would help his case, though.

Rick Perry worked on Al Gore's Texas bid for votes in the 1988 Democratic Party Primary that Michael Dukakus won.

[Al] Gore opposed federal funding of abortion, voting in favor of a bill which supported a moment in silence in schools, and voting against a ban on interstate sales of guns. His position shifted later in life after he became Vice President and ran for president in 2000…”…… Source

Gore his wife led the charge on putting warning labels on records back in the 1980s. In fact, Gore had an 84% pro-life record back in the 1980s: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Al_Gore According to ontheissues.org -- Gore had an 84% anti-abortion voting record and voted pro-life 27 times. Guess you are not from the DFW area.

I was just in Southlake this past Saturday evening, and yes, it IS a Dallas suburb. Quite so.

And if you want to be more specific even, it is the Westlake area. Oh, you aren’t that off with that part though. Their centers are only a couple miles from each other. Basically the same, but oh yes, we’re talking a Dallas suburb.

Glenn announces move to Dallas

Monday, Jul 11, 2011 at 1:24 PM EDT

(Excerpts)

Glenn made a major announcement on radio this morning, albeit a personal one – Glenn, his family, and a small number of staff members will shortly be relocating to Dallas, TX!

“I’m moving to Dallas, Texas, and my family is there now, and I will be there shortly.

(snip)

“We are moving to Dallas and we’re going to build a film and television center and radio center in Dallas and we’re going to create some jobs with people who know how to create jobs in Texas,” he promised.

(snip)

See link for more and for a video of Glenn Beck confirming he is moving to “Dallas”.

Glenn Beck confirms move to Westlake, with eye on building home

(Excerpts)

As we told you here absolutely first, former Fox entertainer Glenn Beck has confirmed he’s not only moving to Dallas, but in fact, the family is already here.

Oh yes indeed. Unless you want to argue with Glenn Beck about himself too, he is moving to a Dallas suburb.

In you would like to know about the political history of the South beyond your current talking points that you’re sprewing in a misguided effort at unnecessary Perry apologetics I’d recommend contacting Freeper Fieldmarshaldj. If he has the time he could tell you a lot. And before you say anything I don’t care if you spent every waking moment of your life deep in the heart of Texas, there are people around here that clearly know more about it than you including a couple damn Yankees like Bill and myself.

While the south was 1 party territory most everybody who was serious about being elected was a democrat. That included conservatives, pretend conservatives, socialist slime, and everything in between.

By the 80’s 1 party rule was over in Texas as conservatives continued to move to the GOP, though rats still dominated most state and local offices. There were still conservative democrats in office but most Texas democrats by this time were definitely not conservatives and most conservatives were no longer democrats. And the national democrats had been under socialist control for close to 100 years. It made zero sense for a Texas conservative to be a democrat while Ronald Reagan was President and then endorse Al Gore in 1988. Perry was either not a real conservative or just cared more about getting elected or fitting in with his demmycrat family than ideology (or both). We’re talking about the 80’s here not the 60s. No excuses.

Him being a democrat at that time is not something that can be defended. It looks silly when people try. He left the party not the other way around (and it was the same thing with Reagan who made a genuine conversion from typical new deal democrat to conservative)

Anyway, back to the present. I don’t really give a fig that he was a rat when I was a little kid. What matters to me is his record as a Republican officeholder.

Perry talks a good game but he is your typical big government friendly Republicrat type. His record as Governor bares that out. Maybe a little better than GW Bush but not by that much. And he’s Governor by default because no one other than bottom-feeding socialist swine, RINO scum, insane kooks, or some combination therein (like Kinky Friedman) have ever run against him.

It seems like half of your fellow Texas freepers outright hate the guy’s guts.

He CAN win, sure, but I don’t think he’s so electable either. He’ll remind people of Bush and that’s not a good thing.

If it ends up becoming an either/or situation with Perry and dirtbag RINO Romney yeah I’ll take my chances with Perry. But that’s like a choice between a head cold and HIV. Don’t really want either.

Boy these Perrybots are getting feral.

“I’m from Illinois, I became familiar with Obama long before most of FR (he ran against my Congressman in 2000 and lost the Democrat primary)”

I still remember that first article I read about him. He was constantly described as biracial and may as well have been a southern slave owner for all Bobby Rush cared! Never could I imagine what was to come.

Impy, I see what you're saying. I really do. But I also know this guy's mother, and she was a force to be reckoned with in the Texas Democratic party, back when the Texas Democrats were something else (rural and Conservative, and yes, I remember those days). A powerful Southern bell that would have made Reagan cower.

What I'm saying, in all honesty, is that as soon as this guy grew up and got his feet wet in office, he changed parties and has not looked back. You can take me at my word or not. I would prefer you did, because I'm right, but if you don't I'll live. He's a good man. A smart man. A Christian man. A conservative man. He got on the "right" ticket as soon as he got out on his own and will be the next president of the US, thank God.

Matter of fact, I was born and raised in Dallas. I moved to Euless in ‘69 and then to Grapevine in ‘86 (where I still live). Grapevine is adjacent to Southlake, so I’m very familiar with the area. We are considered to be suburbs of Fort Worth, since we are in Tarrant County.

Also, I’ve heard Beck and his crew several times talking about him moving to Southlake. He may have used the “Dallas” reference like the cable TV folks do when talking about the weather map, just to give listeners an idea of what part of Texas he’s going to; because people in other parts of the country would have no idea where Southlake might be. Hi neighbor!

Well I live in Fort Worth, and if Southlake, Westlake, Keller, and Grapevine consider themselves OUR suburb, then I must live in a fancier place than I thought! hehe

Hey, can we have Plano, McKinney, and Frisco as our suburbs too? I’d be goin’ out thare buyin’ a Lexus then!

Well, we do live in a metroplex in Texas, so in a way, every place has its own individuality and yet we stand as one. :)

Glad to meet you my little suburb neighbor octex!

PS, I hope to enjoy Christmas in Grapevine some year. I’ve been wanting to do that since we moved to Texas in 2006, but we have not had that opportunity as yet. Enjoyed McKinney’s Victorian Christmas last year. Want to also drink wassail in Denton too some day. Maybe my family will just have to put Grapevine’s Christmas on Main Street on our calendar this upcoming December 2011. Do you recommend it?

Howdy back at you, neighbor!

I’ve never attended the Christmas in Grapevine thing, so can’t offer an opinion.

You and family should try to attend the annual Grapefest here, for sure! It’s in the Springtime and there are many activities, entertainment, food stalls, wine tasting, etc., all in the historic downtown area.
