McCain faces rowdy crowd in Tucson (Torches and Pitchforks Alert)
KVOA-TV NBC 4 Tucson, Ariz. ^ | 2011-08-09

TUCSON-U.S. Republican Senator John McCain was in Tucson Tuesday for a town hall meeting. And, boy did he get an earful from constituents.

McCain expected a rough meeting and he got it.

The meeting room at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee Road, was packed.

The crowd was mixed with people on all sides. There were Tea Party conservatives, moderate Republicans and liberal Democrats. All sides challenged McCain.

Asked about entitlements, McCain said, "With Social Security we should be raising the retirement age gradually, not for present day beneficiaries." And some in the audience yelled back "no".

The question of taxes caused the loudest outbursts.

McCain recommended, "Let's cut the corporate rate from 35 percent to 25 percent." Some in the audience cheered. Others booed. One man screamed at McCain, "You're an idiot."

Another speaker begged McCain to raise taxes on wealthy Americans like him. He said, "I'd rather pay higher taxes so that man can live, rather than take another trip to Italy." Many in the audience applauded. But McCain said "no." He believes tax hikes would further damage the economy.

It was clear. People are frustrated with Washington. A woman told McCain, "We have a huge mess in our House. I have to keep my house under control, okay."

McCain says he's taking his cues from voters. Repeatedly he said, "Last November that election overwhelmingly said ‘stop the spending'."

McCain called on President Obama to put together a detailed spending plan and then to call Congress back from vacation to debate it.

McCain says he's taking his cues from voters.

Then why the hell doesn't he quit?

Maverick admits people voted to stop spending. So what does he do? Support more spending.

And if you like paying more, the next time you go to the grocery store and the bill is $110.give the clerk an extra $20 because you have more money than the next guy and you want to pay more.Same with a car, give the dealer a few more thousand than it’s worth.I can’t take it.AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!

Ha! My whole regular wardrobe would classify as “hobbitt style”. (I’m not a particularly flashy dresser.)

It IS a thought for Tea Party rallies later.

They returned the RINO to office.

Wake up! It was not these people at the meeting that returned him to office. It was the "Progressives" that inhabit the Universities, South Tucson, and the barrios of Phoenix and Yuma. Arizona is basically a conservative oasis in a sea of Marxist cities. However, the concentration of left wingers in the Universities, public schools and city/state government offices can swing a close election. Why do think that there were so many people there to give him a ration of $_it?

Actually, the moron is someone that indiscriminately groups people together with no justification. Not everyone in Arizona voted for McCain.

Did those North Vietnamese torture ALL the fight out of him?

The answer to that is yes, it is called Stockholm syndrome. He will do anything to get on the good side of whoever is attacking him at that moment. He has to be aware of his mind set.

I've taken to calling him Smeagol Mccain. It seems to roll off the tongue and it fits. Like Smeagol Mccain found a “precious” in his job in D.C. and was corrupted by it until became the cave dwelling belly crawler he is today.
If we follow the storyline on out we can hope that he'll
somehow burn himself to a crisp while helping us unfrig the
nation.
None of this will happen because we all know honest politicians are fictional.

“Another speaker begged McCain to raise taxes on wealthy Americans like him. He said, “I’d rather pay higher taxes so that man can live, rather than take another trip to Italy.” “

I really doubt that this guy was actually wealthy. His logic is really stupid. Like others here have pointed out, no one is forcing him to take another trip to Italy. He can easily give more money to the federal government.

I think it really is time for the Republicans to pass a bill that gives taxpayers the option to give more money to the IRS when they pay their tax bill. Make it an option on the 1040, and make it mandatory that the IRS publish the names of all people who opt to give more under this provision, and the extra amount they gave. Then by absence of their name, we will know which liberal loud mouths didn’t back up their insistence that they pay more in taxes. And the federal gov’t. might actually receive a little extra revenue, but don’t look for much.

If McCain was taking his clues from the voters he would resign immediately. Or, better, commit Seppuku (ritual suicide) on the floor of the Senate for the C-SPAN cameras.
