George Lopez wasn't afraid to talk about show getting canceled on "Lopez Tonight" yesterday -- but he told the crowd that he was being fired because of the color of his skin.
Lopez -- whose voice was featured in the "Smurfs" movie -- was talking about how Sony has greenlit a "Smurfs" sequel during his monologue ... and quipped, "So today I lost some work because I'm brown, but I got some work because I'm blue!"
Is Lopez REALLY blaming race ... or was he just trying to crack a bad joke?

I predicted this the day after Lopez Tonight went on the air.
It is EXACTLY the same thing he said when ABC canceled his sitcom. Gotta have thicker skin than that if you are gonna hack it in showbiz.
Has he mentioned the fact that Conan O’Brien is one of the Ten Whitest Guys on the Planet yet?
I loved the show with him married and two kids....thought it was real good.
Ummm, Telemundo would probably spit him out. Does he even speak Spanish? I know Paul Rodriguez does, but George Lopez???

I guess George’s lousy ratings had nothing to do with it.
His sitcom was only funny, because of the actress who played his mom.
Nope, you are absolutely correct. His bug-eye expression was about all he had in his stand-up routine. It was funny the first 100 times, but after that, meh.

Seems like Lopez let it all go to his large, economy-sized head.

Too true... the man is simply not funny, unless you think crass is equivalent to being funny. Here’s one for ya... “how do you say ‘man’ in spanish?... Hombre?... WRONG!... ‘maing’...
His sitcom did have an excellent supporting cast, his mother, Ernie, and his father in-law, were all hillarious, George’s character was the least funny of the lot.
I'm sure he believes that his poor ratings aren't the cause of his firing, so it must be his race.
Note to George: While there are a lot of “latinos” in the U.S. a surprisingly large amount of them DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH! Maybe telemundo would be a better venue for someone who considers himself a mexican first and everything else is secondary.
I tried to watch more than once but the show was unwatchable.

Ironically, the only reason he got the job is because he’s brown. It gave his a license to use hate speech and racial slurs in passing as a comedian.
