I've posted this before:
There are THREE ways:
1.Mechanical failure
2. RPG
3. Explosion INSIDE the chopper.
Crash investigators can easily determine if the explosion occured INSIDE, or was an EXTERNAL source.
Not to long ago, SEVEN CIA operators were killed when an Afghani soldier workign with them detonated a bomb. The same scenario is possible in this case.
And since the Obama administration identified Seal Team 6 as the oens who had carried out the bin Ladin raid, it makes sense that the enemy would try to target them.
OTOH, I'm also surprised that the Taliba/Al Queda haven't publicly taken credit for specifically targeting the Seal Team in retribution for the UBL raid. Even assuming if they had nothing to do with it..it makes sense for them to take credit...
It was initially reported that the SEALS may NOT have been on a SEAL Chinook that is totally rigged out for combat, not just troop transport, but on a NG Chinook - which would be VERY unusual for carrying SEALS - especially going into a firefight.
These big old machines make a VERY EASY target when backing up to a cliff to onload troops.
And there has been no explanation - nor even inquiries that I have seen - on WHY WASN'T AIR COVER SENT IN FIRST and WITH?
