What's behind Sarah Palin's surprise trip to the Iowa State Fair?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | August 11, 2011 | Peter Grier

Posted on 08/11/2011 12:51:59 PM PDT by Virginia Ridgerunner

Sarah Palin and her One Nation bus tour are making a surprise trip to Iowa, if you haven’t heard. In an email sent yesterday to supporters of her political action committee she said she’s going to “meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week.”

(snip)

Sarah Palin has proved that she is the quasi-political attention-getting master of the US media universe.

That’s because there just happens to be a debate in Ames, Iowa tonight among declared GOP presidential contenders. A straw poll follows this weekend. So hundreds of political reporters are already in Iowa – pre-positioned for a Palin drive-by. Pure genius.

(snip)

Plus, SarahPAC has posted a new one-minute Palin video that makes pretty much every other Republican contender’s commercials look underproduced.

(snip)

The sound track is Palin’s speech at the 2008 GOP convention. The overall impression it leaves is that Michele Bachmann is a good speaker, Michele Bachmann is a former tax attorney, Michele Bachmann is a tea party favorite, but Sarah Palin is still way better at lighting people on fire with words.

Does all this mean Palin is going to run for president? She’s still not saying. But it sure looks like she’s running for something, even if it’s only Queen of the Midway.

I sure hope not. I have a lot of respect for Sarah Palin. But, I have no respect for Perry’s “open borders” position. There is a lot I like about him, but giving amnesty to tens of millions of socialism loving amigos would be difficult or impossible to undo. Far worse than a fuster cluck like RomneyCare.

Are u that stupid to realize that a talking head for Fox news does not coordinate a 100k vid spot and bus stop for 10 minute interview?

Dude take your obviously flawed assessments elsewhere...especially if ur going to call others out like you have.

She’d be there even without FoxNews. If it weren’t for her we would not have even seen 2010 as we saw it happen for us. She’s into politics. She’d be there no matter what. Why wouldn’t she?

Peter Grier could’ve just called her for an answer to his question, but no...he had to write a column about that which he has no clue.

RE :"If she appears on Fox News as a contributor to Fox News, which others here are saying she will do, on Hannity’s show, then she is not appearing as a Presidential Candidate and she would not be allowed to be both. Fox News has asked their contributors who planned to run (Gingrich for ex.) to choose one or the other. Sarah chose to stay with them."

Santurum and Newt had to fess up and get suspended from FNC, Huck decided to stay at FNC for the money and fame. Those decisions were made last March about 5 months ago, 5 months and still counting...tick...tick...tick..

yuck. Perry is entrenched, I promise. Someone I would be surprised Palin would back. But I have heard she likes him. (shrug shoulders)

Just heard on Fox radio news RICK PERRY IS RUNNING.

If it weren’t for Sarah Palin we would not have had many of the victories we got in 2010.

Yep, John McCain for one.

I think it's proof positive that she isn't running. Believe me, he doesn't enter this race if he thinks she is.

Perry is supposed to announce for POTUS on Saturday. Likely she is going there to endorse him. They have been pretty thick lately.

You're kidding right?

Oddest way of endorsing I ever heard.

What is wrong with her working for FOX, that is what she has said she was doing. It is not her saying she is not working fox, it is people completely unrelated to her trying to run the woman life. I just do not understand where you are coming from.

She’s going to use the ‘paid by FOX’ time to keep herself out there, as well as the SarahPAC bus. She can press-the-flesh at the Fair; give her speech in Iowa on Labor Day; then announce her candidacy after all of the hoopla and bump of Perry and possibley Rudy is over. Late August or September she will announce. Very prudent. She will let everyone else battle and be eliminated by either the debate/straw poll or media mudslinging. Then step in to suck the oxygen away from whomever is left standing. That way she will have minimum investment of time and money with maximum exposure. Sun Tzu ‘The Art of War’. She will need to save her resources to fight Zero’s billion-dollar campaign of thuggery and destruction.

If Sarah Palin said she’s doing FoxNews there then fine. But she’d be there anyways even if she was not.

What open borders position would that be sir? Governor Perry has put more law enforcement on our southern border than the federal government whom we PAY to protect it.

He never supported amnesty, nor even the North American Union. However he is a free trade guy as Texas is one of the US’s biggest exporters of goods.

Please stop drinking the democratic propaganda. Ask a Texan about our Governor instead and why we keep re-electing him.
