Rick Perry says he is definitely running
UPI ^ | 8-11-11

While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.

"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. … The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.

Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."

Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

Excellent! Finally someone who can win.

Time for Mitt to head south in the polls and go back to wherever it is he came from.

You’ve expressed the concerns I have with him. Over Romney, yes. But there are others out there I trust more.

Works for me. Palin is still my number one and I await her words on the subject, but if she bows out then Perry is my candidate for the Republican nomination for President.

(I even think it’s possible Palin will endorse Perry this weekend.)

*************************

If she is not going to run, then she should endorse one or another at this point, IMO. The others are weakened by the possibility that she may enter, and if she has no intention of running neither other candidates nor we benefit by the distraction.

I do hope she runs as she is easily my preferred potential candidate, but my expectations are fading.

I like that list!

1. Bachmann/Cain

2. Palin

3. Santorum

4. Paul

5. Perry.

Question(s):

1)Why Bachmann over Palin?

2)Why is Palin on your list and not another preferred candidate if she has not yet announced?

all that said...I don’t think Palin will endorse him this early.

I hope she doesn't wait until the day before like she did with Tancredo. :o

This could be a good thing. He’ll split the establishment vote with Romney.

She will back him if she’s not running herself. Personally I think both of them are coordinating on this.

*******************************

I tend to agree. I think they were both watching developments closely before either decide who would move and who would cover.

Perry’s not perfect, but he’s the most electable of the acceptable candidates. He’ll have my vote as long as he doesn’t screw the pooch.

Try this one on for size; The debate starts at the same time as my NFL teams’ first pre-season game.

I am recording one and watching it later.

Coin flip.

I agree. She should either endorse one now or atleast announce that she's not running (if that's the case).

At this point, keeping us questioning's going to hurt the other candidates and especially the one that will end up as the nominee.

If you want the truth about the Perry misteps, just ask one of us Texans who knows Perry and our legislature very well.

Don’t rely on the democrapic propaganda you’re going to hear.

I too am waiting to see what Sarah Palin does...she’s even my number one. But Rick Perry is my second and I’d even love to see a ticket with both their names on it.

I have this feeling that if Sarah doesn’t run, she will be our new Secretary of Energy or any one of a number of cabinet positions as well.
