PBS Hosts Blast Obama on Poverty Tour

PBS hosts Tavis Smiley and Cornel West, once strong supporters of Barack Obama, are traveling the country criticizing the president for failing to protect the poor during the debt talks. Noted African-American evangelical Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr. agrees that the president has done little to help the poor, but says systemic changes, not more wasteful spending, are necessary to lift Americans out of poverty.

Radio and television hosts Smiley and his PBS Princeton University co-host West, have taken to the road on a 16-city "Poverty Tour." The tour stops at various towns and highlights the plights of the poor while blasting the president for his failed leadership.

During his Wednesday stop in the nation's capital, West told ABC News that President Obama should assert his authority more in order to help the downtrodden.

"I think too often [the president] compromises, too often he capitulates. I think the Republicans know that. I think they laugh when he's not around," shared Smiley.

The political duo noted that more middle-income Americans are falling into poverty, and Obama, they lament, never talks about the issue of poverty.

West told ABC that Martin Luther King, Jr. paved the way for Obama's presidency.

"I think they laugh when he's not around."

Laughing at the rookie Hussein - not just for Republicans any more.

Something I heard this past week - neither Smiley nor West have ever been invited to Hussein's White House - not even through the kitchen door near the garbage bags.

Let them have their fun... it’s not as if they are going to vote for a conservative any time soon.

Got this in an email today
********************
The morning briefing

The Dept of Defense briefed the President this morning.
They told President Obama that 2 Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq.
To everyone’s surprise, he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands,
Visibly shaken, almost in tears.

Finally, he composed himself and asked,
...’Just how many is a brazillian?’

This is not surprising, since he obviously has no understanding of billion
Or trillion either.

“PBS hosts Tavis Smiley and Cornel West, once strong supporters of Barack Obama, are traveling the country criticizing the president for failing to protect the poor during the debt talks”

When these racists speak about the poor, they mean that more entitlements were not given to blacks. ONLY the black community can lift itself from poverty by once again embracing God, family and country.

Tavis, Cornell, mah bro’s, word up to ya. The entire point of the debt ceiling crisis was that it is the end of the “everybody get some!” days. Over. Finis. Done. Give it up!

"African-American evangelical Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr. ... says systemic changes, not more wasteful spending, are necessary to lift Americans out of poverty."

Whoa, back the truck up there, dipstick! No more wasteful spending? An AA is saying this! You mean he's preaching individual responsibility and telling "Holder's people" to get educated, stay in school, don't do drugs, don't have out of wedlock (how quaint) babies, don't do crime, get jobs, show up on time, and respect authority? Incredible. Everything there is 100% opposed to the tyrannical regime in the White Hut.

Good for the Rev. Jackson.

I don’t think it’s prudent to laugh.

Obama is indeed a rookie in the role of chief executive of a constitutional republic, but that’s not why he wanted to get elected President. Obama is a very experienced hand at leftwing community organizing. And he’s an awesomely accomplished campaigner. Just a decade ago, who would of thought that US voters would elect a guy who socialized with communist terrorists, who worshipped with racists, and who said of himself that he chose his friends carefully among Marxist professors and structural feminists?

Smiley and West and a host of other leftwingers are just implementing a leftwing triangulation strategy early on to get four more years of Obama. Sentient leftists (ie, the minority that knows what they are for and why) knew that the vestiges of constitutional government would not allow Obama to eat the whole enchilada of fundamental transformation in one bite. It’s too radical for the institutions of a constitutional republic, even for those elected by Democrats. So, the left complains that Obama can’t get the whole enchilada to make him look “centrist”. Obama hasn’t moved an inch, but effective propaganda can make it look that way to clueless Democrat and independent voters. It can even fool some conservatives.

There’s nothing to laugh at here.

It has been a staple of English/Irish humor for years and years for a character to speak in a kind of intelligent gibberish. Victor McLaughlin does a bit of it in the movie ‘’ The Informer’’. This is what Cornell West reminds me of. The guy talks and says things and uses words that literally makes no sense.

>”ONLY the black community can lift itself from poverty by once and again embracing God, family and country’’< And by going out and looking for a job. Easy to be poor when you won’t work. Harder to work when you don’t go looking for it.

What you’re saying is that Cornell and Tavis are a modern version of Amos n’ Andy that we’re supposed to pretend is serious discussion. It’s long been a standard of black humor for some cretin to try to impress people by using words he doesn’t understand and can’t pronounce. I agree completely, and you could easily add Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to that. Rev. Al cracks me up, although MSNBC infuriates me for giving this racist criminal buffoon a platform as a “serious” commentator when he can’t even talk understandably.

Yes, you’re right. “Amos ‘n’ Andy’’. Wow. They were a little before my time but you’re right. Even though it’s a dark story and movie, there is a scene in “The Informer’’ where McLaughlin as “Gypo Nolan’’’ is spending his ill-gotten reward in a bar and he launches into a soliloquy of this kind of speech.

Yeah, I’ve seen “the Informer” a couple of times where McLaughlin plays the almost-sympathetic traitor. A little dull, but not a bad old movie. He got an Academy Award for that one, didn’t he? I like “The Lost Patrol”, too. I always rewind the part where they burn the airplane a few times because it amazes me how fast it goes up.

“The Lost Patrol’’ is a good movie made really tense because if I remember the officer in charge of the patrol is killed without revealing what the exact nature of the mission is.
