More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll
Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear
Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.
How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?
A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

Perry just announced TODAY & still had more votes than Palin.
Palin has had a huge head start and has been on FOX, been riding around in a bus, speaking at TEA parties, = ZERO VOTES
I am not for Rick Perry. But Palin should have been using that time to build a fundraising base & organization.
All Palin fans can do is repeat: PDS! like drones.

I will vote for the conservative, which means Perry and Romney are OUT. You may fall into the 'Anyone but Obama' trap, but I refuse.
And before you start the 'you'll elect Obama' crap, it will actually be all of YOU who fall into the ABO mindset.
The GOP and RNC is counting on you, and every other conservative to hold their nose again. And because of that, they'll push the biggest RINO they can because they know the conservatives will fall in line. We will NEVER get a real conservative if the GOP keeps taking us for granted- and then stabbing us in the back later. And every time a RINO gets the nod, a piece of real conservatism dies.
At least with Obama, I see the knife coming at me. With RINOs, I'm always being stabbed in the back.
And I'm tired of bleeding at the hands of both.
So yes, I am proudly a Palinbot. I'm also a Bachmannbot and Cainbot.
But I am first and foremost, a conservative.

You know, it’s quite possible she really hasn’t decided. In any case she has said she will have to make a decision by September, which is 4 months before the first caucus. Plenty of time.

Candidates hand out free tickets that you exchange for a ballot with all 9 candidates names on them. You go into the booth and cast your secret ballot for anyone you want, including any write-in of your choosing.
Ron Paul gave me a hot dog today. Huckabee gave me a car sticker. Bachmann gave me a Randy Travis concert. Cain gave me a slice of Godfather’s pizza.
Nobody bought my vote.

No.
Reagan ran for President it 1976. He lost the nomination to Ford.
He kept his large organization active through speaking, radio, and mailing. It was huge... MASSIVE.
Palin has SarahPAC which cannot be used in a Presidential campaign.
Reagan had a very large organization left over from 1976 that he used in 1980.

To be fair, Santorum only got 200 more votes than Cain. As a Senator, I rally think Santorum should have out polled Cain by larger numbers.

Hmm, this is starting to make sense. I didn't realize the IA straw poll was a GOP fundraiser. Of course Sarah is not going to raise money for RINOs who will only use it against her in the primary. All they've ever done is burn her. This is why she's waiting to get into the race. She couldn't announce before the straw poll, otherwise, she'd have to take part in it. Yet, she still showed up to the party, shook hands with the people, gave interviews, and the RINOs provided the venue. Pretty smart strategizing.
She's running.

I don’t know why you are so concerned about Palin and her supporters if truly don’t believe she has the organizational chops and work ethic to win.
Why write an entire post about it, if she truly is a non-factor?
O4P is more than just a couple of blogs; moreover, a lot of the local work that is being done is purposefully not being reported. Each chapter has specific plans on what we can and cannot do pre-announcement and post-announcement. We don’t want other campaigns to know what we are doing right now, and we don’t want all our information in one centralized location as of yet.

Perry’s people bought tickets, Palin’s didn’t. If it were a democrat event, people would have taken Bachmann’s free dinner and her $35 ticket and then voted for Palin, but this was a Republican event where the attendees danced with the fella that brung ‘em.
To: Minus_The_Bear
I can’t help it that you are unaware that Governor Palin has been using that time to build a fundraising base & organization.
I can’t help it that you are unaware that Governor Palin’s organization has purposely not participated in any kind of Iowa straw poll activity including write-ins.
I do understand you are anxious to get started working to get Governor Palin nominated.

I’d like to hear more from Santorum. He rightly has been speaking out about not getting enough face time with the media or during the debate. He knows he’s got an uphill battle. Hopefully he can gain some momentum.

Don't you realize that Romney & Perry are loving this then?
What is so hard to see about that?
They will get amnesty, healthcare, more TSA... etc.
You actually have to campaign to win. Palin I don't mind. it's her supporters who think there is zero effort involved in winning an election that are the problem.
