the north-eastern Indians tend to be Mongoloid (i.e. of Tibeto-Burmese or Tai races) and there are a scattering of Australoids (tribals) in Indian forests and in the Andaman and Nicobar islands
The Bengalis and Tamils are really separate "nations" in linguistic, racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds (even religion to an extent as though both are mostly Hindu, there are different gods/goddesses worshipped).
