Syrian gunboats firing heavy machine guns pounded impoverished districts of Latakia on Sunday, killing at least 10 people in a renewed assault on the Mediterranean coastal city, activists said.

His successors will undoubtedly be Muslim brotherhood. Dont be naive, the middle east is not the west, islam does not have the same freedoms as the western world + christianity allow. They need leaders to rule with an iron fist.
If you are talking about who Israel want, there is no doubt keeping the status quo with the Alawite regime is in their interests. Christians in Syria also do not suffer at the hands of muslims because religious extremism is not allowed at all, infact syrian christians are probably in the best position than any other christians in the middle east. Yeah lets get involved and completely wipe out another middle eastern christian community like we did in iraq..
