August 16 Wisconsin recall election results from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

44EAGLE RIVER, Wis (Reuters) - Voters in two Wisconsin State Senate districts head to the polls on Tuesday in the last of nine recall elections triggered by the fight earlier this year over Republican-backed curbs on the union rights of public workers.

In Tuesday's two final special elections, Jim Holperin and Robert Wirch -- two Democrats who opposed the anti-union measure and even fled the state for weeks in an unsuccessful effort to prevent its passage -- are defending their seats.

Holperin seems to be in the tighter race. His rival is Kim Simac, founder of the Northwoods Patriots, a Tea Party group. Though Simac is a political novice, the district has leaned Republican in the three years since Holperin was elected.

No matter who wins, Republican Governor Scott Walker and his Republican allies will retain control of the legislature, where the battle over public workers' union powers was waged earlier this year with public protests, legislative maneuvering and court challenges.

With seven of the nine recalls over, Republicans have managed to keep control of the state senate -- 17 to 16 if they score no wins on Tuesday -- because Democrats failed to unseat three Republican state Senators in the key round of six GOP senate recalls last week.

Two important points:

First, this is an effort to remove representatives who fled the state in order to avoid doing their jobs, and secondly, it would be a huge psychological blow to the unions to have their two bought and paid for representatives recalled.

The Dems are depressed...they fgailed last week, and today means nothign for them.

Some were saying yesterday that that WEAC announcement about laying off 40% of their workforce (LMAO, BTW!) would energize their base for today's elections. I think it would tend to demoralize them. We'll see....

WI FReepers... does Simac have a realistic shot in this one? The other contest will be tougher as the Kenosha area is pretty hard-core union.

Can any Freepers in Wisconsin tell us how the voter turnout is going in the two Senate districts???

Here is another thread that has an early first person account:

Two Democrats Face Recall Today, 16 August, 2011. Vote If You Can!(WI)

One of the Republican, a former Democrat, might end up flipping if we don't win one of the two seats today.

Remember Jumping Jim Jeffords? He held all the cards and changed history with his flip.

Let's hope we unseat at least one of the Fleebaggers.

Not to mention the security planes and/or helicopters covering this idiot
that has to spend more money trying to convince America it wasn’t ‘me’, it was ‘them’.

Actions speak louder then YOUR WORDS and those can’t be drowned out.
Go Tea Party!!!!

No president has had more security. He must be afraid of his disappointed voters.

I personally think he sold us all out so now the ‘new’ illegal voters are all he has left to brainwash for the next election.

Are we going to see the same coverage tonight by MSNBC as we did the night all the Republicans were up for recall? You know, Special-Ed Schulz live in person with the rabid crowd of bused-in, drooling public employee union lunatics behind him screaming every time the tote board is updated? Somehow, I am think not.

It’s a shame that only 2 of these fleabags who fled the state are up for recall. They should all be recalled.

I’m not a Wisconsonite, but I guess the others are in such safe districts they could have their heads up their ass and still be re-elected.

Good point all. I forgot about the rino that is wanting to switch. Him not switching yet...thing that plays in our favor or against us? Meaning voters will think like I did and just stay home since they don’t realize control is at stake?

Is him sitting on teh fence encouraging the rats to vote so he will flip? Or is it encouraging the conservatives to get out and vote?

Partly true, but also you can’t be recalled until you’ve served a year of the present term, so those Dems elected in November 2010 couldn’t be recalled.
