Thread from 2005: Freepers are "fringe"
Now he defends the Tea Party. Go figure.
I like Hannity, but he should ditch his repetitive schedule of guests and get new people. I simply don’t believe Pat Buchanan, Juan Williams, Bob Beckel, or most of the assorted pundits Hannity has on every week are worth listening to. Ditto for most of the pols he has on...conservative or liberal. Hannity is actually more interesting when he does a monologue. Either that or Hannity doesn’t know how to ask interesting questions.
Hannity has the hottest babes on his show, especially the all american panel.
“I have to switch off Laura when she gets going, talking over her guest. She (and all of them) should learn to zip the lip and allow the liberal guests to hang themselves with their spin and counter when they are done.”
The absolute master, God keep him, was William F. Buckley.
Listen to Hannity run through his litanies. It is getting tiring and not that effective anymore. The term “socialist” “communist” and “traitor” have been bandied about - even Beck’s show as well. They are doing what the left has done, and that’s how we downward spiral. I believe in not getting trashed in the media, and in fighting back, and so be it - but it has compounded the ugliness.
The real point is that the level of discourse has dropped way down.
It’s all anger all the time, for both sides, and each has an ever increasing level of self-righteousness. We are in a death match rather than a debate, where the highlight becomes personal attack and invective - or as Journolist said of George Will and Fred Barnes when they could not refute their arguments - ‘just call them ‘racist’! (For the left, it is a strategy.)
AS I said, it started with Bork and the left, but it has been picked up on the other side of the aisle - no one wants to be left short in the arms race.
Look at Maddow and Krugman to name a few - just anger and name calling throughout their self-righteous pompous speeches. If you don’t agree with them they you are a ‘troglodyte’. They are convinced the other side is an enemy of the nation, just like the Right believes the liberals are a fifth column in America. It’s a big accusation when you think about it and it is amazing how polarized political discussion has become. It can’t be done in social events anymore. People tend to dive into the deep end - handcuffed to anvils.
Give me an Art Buchwald - at least he could make you laugh.
They have taken the fun out of it.
Just finished listening to him rake a female Dem caller over the coals. I didn't agree with her on most any point she was trying make about Perry himself but I was so disgusted in how ugly, downright and utterly vicious Hannity became over her daring to raise some of her points about Perry. Hannity had me almost feeling sorry for her after how he treated her. He refused to let her make hardly any coherent statements without him doing his best to talk over her and make fun of her.
He does this so often that I can hardly stomach his flaky mad man attitude anymore. For once I wish he would actually let a caller make their point without him start raising his voice to the point he is nearly screaming at and over them when they start to try and make their point. Why not let them make their point and then take them on point by point but at least have the courtesy to let them make their point before attacking the caller.
Sean has become such a rude obnoxious child-like bully who talks over his callers he disagrees with and tries to ridicule and intimidate them and their points of view and if that doesn't work he then resorts to nasty and ugly name calling. One certainly can not expect a coherent discussion about todays politics where Sean is involved unless you are calling to praise and worship the nut job. And to think I used to enjoy listening to his show in the past. Not anymore, he has turned into a genuine flake and first class moron.
They are both of the same caliber. A pair of real nut jobs.
Hannity is a drive to the bottom in political discourse
