Apparently, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is a ‘cafeteria Catholic’ and will ignore the Archbishop because he desires the praise of men more than praise from God (John 12: 43). His loss.

In what way is O’Malley a Catholic?

O’Malley is less a Catholic than a Democrat, much less.

Sends his children to Catholic school (chauffeured by a State Policeman), shows up at funerals for slain police and firemen.

“I have concluded that discriminating against individuals based on their sexual orientation in the context of civil marital rights is unjust. I have also concluded that treating the children of families headed by same-sex couples with lesser protections under the law than the children of families headed by heterosexual parents, is also unjust.”

But O'Malley will gladly abort them for you. Just pass him a coat-hanger.

O’Malley’s support of (taxpayer funded) abortion is even more serious than his attack on marriage. I am told that he regularly attends mass and takes communion. The archbishop’s duty seems clear to me.

All Henry VIII wanted was a divorce.

He never supported same-sex marriage (and likely would have beheaded anyone who suggested it).

He got read the riot act.

So why does the gov. of Maryland (a much less powerful figure, to boot) get such a free pass?

People who want to get on board the "let's go to hell in a handbasket and support sexual peversion" train should just be honest and quit calling themselves followers of any religion, since every single monotheist religion (and even Buddhism!) condemns homosexual acts.

I wonder if this is the prelude to excommunication?

I know they have to notify the offender in writing of the offense and give them a chance to repent.
But this guy seems intent on flipping the Church the Bird.

Ofcourse we will never know if he is excommunicated.

The Catholic church needs to conclude that O’Malley is unfit to be a Catholic.

The Democrat party is O’Malley’s religion.

Like so many other politicians, If the party says vote for queers to marry then O’Malley is all for it.
If the party say’s abort babies, then O’Malley is all for it.

If the party say’s lick Obama’s butt. O’Malley will be the third in line right behind Reid and Pelosi.

I wonder if this is the prelude to excommunication?

Hence my question as to whether or not this falls under Canon 915.

The rule of thumb is that the bishop is responsible to initially meet with the individual in private and address the issue. Apparently, this has taken place. We will have to wait to see how the bishop now handles the situation.

Simple answer, the governor has given up his Catholicity! No headline needed ... he us an abomination to the Church and totally disobedient to Her Representative.

He gave up his Faith ... It is an all or nothing Faith which is why so many have to leave, like it or not!

But I thought modern Catholics just let heretic "excommunicate themselves."

I don't expect any action to come from the Church on this. To many people have the good on it.

THE GOVERNOR MUST BE EXCOMMUNICATED IMMEDIATELY or The Catholic Church must be branded as hypocritical.

THE GOVERNOR MUST BE EXCOMMUNICATED IMMEDIATELY

Under which Canon law?

The believers in Jesus Christ who do not submit to the tyranny of Rome (the Vatican, whatever...) would be completely free to simply tell the man, his support of homosexuality is unbiblically sinful and we would no longer fellowship with him. And that would occur under I Corinthians 5:11. You guys stay right there enslaved to canon law, we’ll continue to use the Bible.
