Congressional Republicans are worried that Rick Perry's campaign has become a gaffe machine that may endanger the party' chances of unseating President Barack Obama, POLITICO reports.
As the Texas governor takes on the role of front-runner, his statements, like the one critical of Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, have GOP lawmakers concerned that his campaign will self-destruct or worse, win the nomination, but alienate the independent voters needed to win the general election.
You cant be calling Bernanke a traitor and you cant be questioning whether or not Barack Obama loves America, that type of thing, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), told POLITICO. Ive been with Perry a few times, and I can see how he could project, again, if its done the right way. But no, if he continues this, hell have a tough time.
Another congressmen suggested Perry needs to rethink his strategy so as not to alienate independent voters. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), a member of the GOP leadership said of the Bernanke comments: Thats not something you want to lead with if youre trying to get independents to come your way. I would imagine that hes thinking through his strategy.

If you noticed I said I would NOT support him for that reason. Nor did I support Obama. Either way, the fact that we have a Muslim in the White House now certainly wouldnt give reason to want another.
Christian values? “Adios Mofo” per Perry sure dosent sound like a christian to me. Sounds more like a street thug.
Perry’s comments usually play well within the state of Texas but is quickly finding out Texans are a whole different thing than the rest of the nation. Texas is often regarded as that whole other country when it comes Texans and its ways of getting things done. We understand Texan talk, the others in America don’t always get it. While I do not like Perry and do not support his candidacy I will defend his Texan way of talking. And Perry needs to understand the rest of nation expects him to be like them instead of as a Texan. They like the idea of him being a Texan but just not quite his Texan ways. Tough job Rick.
Yeah you’re right. I never ever swear and neither does anyone in my entire church, not even on poker night.
“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” ~Matthew 15:18
No doubt about it. Everyone in my church is a sinner.
It must be great to live in Heaven where you are.

I was’nt the one bragging about Perry’s “christian values”, you were.
If you believe once swearing 6 or so years ago means he isn’t a Christian, then you do not know Christ.
Lol. Ok, please inform me “Oh Great One.”
I am a sinner. Rick Perry is a sinner. All of the original disciples were sinners.
Every Christian is a sinner. To claim we must be without sin to have Christian values is a false teaching.
Oh really? So we can “practice sin” and still be a christian?
So is it your claim that we have people without sin walking the earth today?
Or is it your claim that we have no Christians walking the earth today?
I’m not claiming we should ignore sin. We should always follow Christ’s teaching. I try. I often fail. Do you consider me a Christian?
I dont know you but I DO know the bible says “you shall know them by their fruits.” From what I have seen of Perry, his fruits are rotten to the core. He is decietful and a liar. He talks a good game at election time and will even go to the extent of having a prayer meeting to pander for votes, but you can bet once he is elected, its a different story. He even signed a bill into law outlawing the sell of Halal meat with non-Halal meat unless properly labeled. I dont know if you know what that is but it is meat that is prepared in Islamic fashion according to an Islamic authority. So, once again Perry, pandering for votes as usual, puts Texas in a dangerous position by exposing it to Sharia law influences. A TRUE christian has core values that cannot and will not be swayed by anything, even the desire for votes.
Do you, as a Christian, believe it is okay sell Halal and non-Halal meat together without properly labeling each?
Do you want to buy Halal meat without knowing that is what you are getting? Do you want those trying to practice Islam to be tricked into buying non-Halal meat?
Are those ideas part of Christ teaching?
1. I dont buy Halal meat. 2. I dont care what they do with Halal meat. My point is Perry, pandering for votes, has put Texas in a vunerable position. What will be next? Banning circumsicion because its against Islamic law. I have already seen billboards here proclaiming such. Little by little they creep in with the aid of political hacks like Perry and before you know it, its taking over. Kinda like the commies in Washington that no one wanted to believe were there and the illegals who have taken over Texas. Islam is an evil religion and TRUE christians will defend against such, not aid it.
Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
