Republicans Worried GOP Front-Runner Rick Perry Won't Appeal To Independent Voters
Business Insider ^ | 08/19/2011 | Zeke Miller

Congressional Republicans are worried that Rick Perry's campaign has become a gaffe machine that may endanger the party' chances of unseating President Barack Obama, POLITICO reports.

As the Texas governor takes on the role of front-runner, his statements, like the one critical of Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, have GOP lawmakers concerned that his campaign will self-destruct — or worse, win the nomination, but alienate the independent voters needed to win the general election.

“You can’t be calling Bernanke a traitor and you can’t be questioning whether or not Barack Obama loves America, that type of thing,” Rep. Peter King (R-NY), told POLITICO. “I’ve been with Perry a few times, and I can see how he could project, again, if it’s done the right way. But no, if he continues this, he’ll have a tough time.”

Another congressmen suggested Perry needs to rethink his strategy so as not to alienate independent voters. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), a member of the GOP leadership said of the Bernanke comments: “That’s not something you want to lead with if you’re trying to get independents to come your way. I would imagine that he’s thinking through his strategy.”

“and you can’t be questioning whether or not Barack Obama loves America, that type of thing,”

Bullshit.
It’s well past time to call a spade a spade.

A bomb-thrower is EXACTLY what is needed right now, to wake the sheeple up. But to those inside the Beltway Bubble, the play-nice-and-get-along bs means they are AFRAID of how the media will portray it.

Screw the Independent voters. If they want King Obama for four more years, then vote for him. If Independents want to be thought as a real huge AH, then there is nothing we can do. Getting tired of coddling them so let them have King Obama and say goodbye America.

Nothing Perry said is wrong - period.

Correct. And here was a good article with an intellectual defense of what Gov. Perry said by Larry Kudlow. (in case some haven't seen it)

“I’m a independent voter and he appeals to me. Of course the reason I am independent these days is because my core beliefs are well to the right of the GOP.”

What he said.

I can name you one who talks a good game, especially at election time, but never follows through. Ricardo Perry

I'm a reconstructed Southern democrat,
I'll vote for Perry or Cain.

I will not vote for Romney, Huntsman, Gingrich, Santo-rum, T-paw, or any others.

and the alternative is either staying home, or voting for “the won” ? anyone who would do either, is not worth appealing for their vote anyway.

I’ve been on vacation - has Perry passed Romney as the frontrunner?

I've only seen one national poll since Perry entered the race, and he was leading Romney by 11 points. We'll see if that holds up.

Its starting to look bad for the dumbocrats...
Perry is bringing up some strange vibes..

Devalueing america currency by QE3 would be treasonous!!!!!...
The only thing he didnt say was that devalueing currency IS A TAX...

A sneaky under-handed arrogant pick pocket TAX..
And that President Obama is a PICK POCKET... a grifter..

Rick Perry is a lot of things, not all of them good. Being a politician is one of the worse things.

But being an established member of the Ivy-league, inside-the-beltway crowd is not one of them.

It is why the Bush family supported his opponent in the last governor race.

In addition to the two top runners, Hunsman is another voters had better be careful of. Mormonism is cousin to Islam. And Perry likes the North American Union, so that leaves bachmann, Santorum and Cain.

We need to watch Obamas hands...
When he is motioning toward something with one hand...
The boy is apt to pick your pocket with the other..

He needs to be watched closely.. he is after yer wallet..

Yet I saw where Perry called Bush for advice on running. Seems friendly to me.

Can you name another establishment candidate, past or present, that openly discussed seceding from the Union?

Here is the sum total of his alleged "secession" comment:

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

Now that is pretty vague. Hard to get secession out of that, unless your are looking for it. Of course, a more possible reading could be the possibility of Texas splitting into 5 states, giving us 8 more GOP senators...
