Rick Perry a right-winger? Don't make me laugh
NJ.com ^ | August 14, 2011 | Paul Mulshine

The media may have pronounced Rick Perry the darling of the right wing, but Justin Raimondo has a different take. Perry's a liberal internationalist, just like the Texas governor before him:

Another clueless Texas Governor surrounded by the same Praetorian Guard of conniving neocons who led us down the road to imperial overstretch and fiscal ruin last time around – isn’t that just what the GOP needs right now?

The neocons have anointed their candidate, and it’s clear they have some sense he’s swimming upstream:

"’He will distinguish himself from other Republicans as a hawk internationalist, embracing American exceptionalism and the unique role we must play in confronting the many threats we face,’ one foreign policy advisor with knowledge of Perry’s thinking told The Cable. ‘He has no sympathy for the neo-isolationist impulses emanating from some quarters of the Republican Party.’"

Doesn’t matter. If Sarah doesn’t run, Gov Perry is the ticket. In fact, Minnie Mouse could beat that f*&&^%ork failure in chief we have in there now. So be it.

Hmmmmm. I thought the neo-con candidate was Romney or Paul Ryan or Chris Christy or Jeb Bush or ... Anybody but Perry.

How good is ‘one foreign policy advisor’ when he or she uses a word like ‘neo-isolationist’? There’s hardly anything neo about it (wanting domestic policy to take the forefront), unlike that oxymoron, ‘neo-conservative’.

That may be right but he’ll always be better than Obama.

Geez. A NJ blog? Of course there is a fanaticism for Christie. There last competent Gov was Tom Keane. The gold standard of genuine RINOs. Enjoy.

Does a conservative votes like this?

That's why the "PRESS-titutes" keep shoving him in our face.

I don’t think Perry is a right winger, honestly I think there are very few in the US.

What we call Right is a pretty poor description of what we are and even if Perry was a internationalist, does an internationalist have to be right wing?

internationalist in my mind means engaged with the world vs what Ron Paul is the exact opposite, he wants to totally disengage from the world.

I wonder if internationalist was supposed to actually be a one world government which is what most liberals are pushing, I haven’t heard Perry pushing that tripe.

Just trying to clarify what is trying to be communicated here.

Don’t get me wrong, liberals are trying to co-opt the term to be put to their uses, like a global taxation scheme. Internationalism just means engagement and cooperation. It isn’t necessary a left right US Political issue.

In Europe, a right winger wouldn’t ever be an Internationalist, the right wing theory there that applies, is just take it, might is right.

Do we actually want to fall into the trap of letting the left define us?

The only one of those running is Romney, and Romney is so far out there in many ways, even more so than just politics and basic sleazy politician dishonesty, that I think his deepest core support comes from an establishment element much more permanent and hard core than just neo-cons, or the moderate wing, or rinos, or all the other descriptions of the none conservative wing of the GOP.

I gotta hand it to you. You are swimming upstream in a river, fighting a heavy current. Just be aware now, that river is really a sewer pipe.

Republicans LUV to be told what they want to hear..
AND many are there to do it..

Its what a candidate DOES rather than what he/she says that counts..
Few republican candidates are for eviscerating the federal government..
THAT is the candidate this cycle that is Needed..

Most probably ONLY Michele Bachmann fits that mold..
Perry talks a good game though.. but it may be just talk,,

I think I’m liking a Palin/Bachmann ticket.

I think I’m going to vote for Palin even if she doesn’t take it in the primaries. I’m not holding my nose again.
