Perry is against reducing the number if illegals in America, particularly te messicans.

Americans disagree.

Happy swimming, Gov. Perry.

Question for the FR community - Has this article given Gov. perry the nick name “The Swimmer”?

Just ASKIN’.

Back again from the PDS paulnutz talking point conference? Newest revelations on your wormy little guy show not only is he imitating larry flint with his “full page Perry sex ad” and is taking big illegal contributions from Russia, but now it is beginning to ooze out he has backdoor connections to soros backing.

Let’s all hope Rand fell far enough from the tree to remain sane.

"Hawkish international interventionism is not American exceptionalism and I’m tired of it being presented as such."

Amen. Since when did being the arm-twister for the international left start passing for any kind of conservatism? If I didn't know any better (and I don't), I'd think the party establishment had been hijacked by Trotskyites at some point in the past.

Have read the threads where Texas taxpayers have spent over 130 million dollars funding college tuition for illegal immigrants due to Rick Perrys dream Act

Or his statements on open borders in public speeches as recently as 2007.

Then of course there’s the NOLA conference last year where he advocated for a immigrant worker policy.

Then of course he said Arizonas immigration policy was one that he opposed....

I think we should message that we are the “UP” party, as uplifting, elevating, etc...

Everytime a reporter says we are right wing, we should shoot them down and tell them that they don’t know what right wing is and they can’t call you a fascist and get away with it.

This has to stop.

That would tend to say that he isn’t a very good internationalist .... if he is trying to be one

Not really too worried about Perry on Foreign Policy, he screw it up any worse than Obama and he has experience negotiating with the countries bordering Texas.

That may be right but he’ll always be better than Obama.

I do not believe that about Perry, Romney, or other RINOs.

What happened under Bush was that the Republicians voted for Medicare Part D. Under Clinton, the Republicans rejected HillaryCare, and under Obama, they fought (weakly) ObamaCare.

We end up in the same place with a Democrat or a RINO in the Oval Office. But with a RINO President, the Republicans in Congress go along meekly towards the socialist end.

I'm fed up with the bait and switch tactics of the RINOs.

Oh, I understand exactly what you are saying. From my point of view I’d like to see ALL the choices make it to the Texas primaries. By primary time back in ‘08 the only viable choice left was Mister excitement, John McCain. I’m not a big Perry fan but i’ll reiterate that he is better than Obama.

Great point and 100% true. But that doesn't seem to matter to some. The man has an 'R' next to his name and that, apparently, is good enough.

I'm fed up with the bait and switch tactics of the RINOs.

As am I. But that's not the case with Skick-Rick Perry. You know you're getting a left-leaning RINO, just look at his record.

Will not vote for Perry.

RINO Rick's supporters say we will.

This time you’re gonna vote for Perry and like it.

Paul Ryan seems to be the candidate that that crowd is backing right now. Michael Medved was praising Ryan this last week and he’s a pretty useful barometer for what the faux-conservatives are up to.

“Will not vote for Perry.”

What if the choice boils down to Obama v Perry?

Hmmm... well the concept is pretty inflammatory to say the least..

almost as bad as my fear the democrats would martyr Zero for the MLK street creds he would get..
They could spend a year on TV and other media demoaning his demise..

It would be unwatchable.. as well as extremely painful to behold..

I'm not crazy about the term "American exceptionalism" either, but from what I've been able to find out, it wasn't Lovestone who first use the phrase, but Stalin or American Stalinists who applied it to Lovestone.

The problem with the idea of "American exceptionalism" isn't that it's Communist or was Communist in its origins -- Lovestone was on his way to breaking with Leninism and "American exceptionalism" became the basis for his later anti-communism.

The problem is that the idea is so vague and ambiguous. It combines the idea of the exception and the exceptional -- which can point in different directions, isolationist and interventionist.

What does an exceptional America do? Does it retreat into itself and cherish its own existence as an exception to developments in other countries? Or do we regard ourselves as an "exceptionally" good model or pattern for other countries, in which case we're no longer an exception to what's going on elsewhere?

I'd rather refer directly to our values and traditions, rather than toss around "American exceptionalism" as a feelgood formula.

There’s always 3rd party. And there’s always a 3rd party that’s better than the RINO. Wouldn’t vote for Obama. What happened in 2008 was a lot of staying home. I live in Maine, so I really do anticipate a real possibility that I’ll be voting for a Democrat for US Senate in Nov 2012, unless Tea Party steps up and takes out Snowe. There will probably be a Constitution Party nominee who I’ve never heard of. Since I know that Perry would be a Terrible President, different from Obama, but terrible in different ways, I’ll vote Constitution Party, unless the Constitution Party candidate attended a Bilderberg Conference.
