I don't know enough about Perry to make a determination. I have heard Perry say "I'm not embarassed to be pro-business."

I'm not 'pro-business', which implies governmental action in favor of certain people and not others. I'm in favor of economic freedom for all Americans. I'm not going to favor business over employees, consumers or other people.

It's equal justice under law for me. What people do with their freedom is up to them. That's why they call it 'freedom'.

What's gone, or going, is the 1945-2001 world.

Yes it's gone and it's not coming back. The world today is interconnected by instant communication, intertwined markets and cheap airfare. Short of an armageddon that plunges us back into the dark ages, an interconnected global world is here to stay.

The only issue is what nation will be at the helm. I'd prefer the United States lead this interconnected global world. Others feel that it is time to step aside and pass the baton to some other country. This is not the future I look forward to for my children.

He’s playing both sides of the fence.

Hardly, he is merely seeking the quickest and most realistic way to stop abortion. Focusing on the ideal and not getting anywhere is not a very realisitic approach to this issue. I agree Personhood is the ideal, and so is an amemdment, and then repeal roe wade, and then at least limit abortions to a certain time after conception i.e banning abortion after the first beating of the heart.

BTW, what candidate is actively pursuing Personhood for the unborn? Also, are there any other candidates who support an amendment to ban abortion like Perry does, recent as that may be?

I hope to heaven that you are right about these two campaigning against the dems and not each other!

I can see it happening (see my tag line) !

That picture of Perry and the ACORN gangsters oughta give any rational person pause.

How could Perry even enter the race with all that baggage? “

I hope we can all learn Spanish........

Peoole are unaware that the Alaska constitution withholds mineral rights and water rights from people who nominally own the land. I learned this from “The Undefeated.”

That would never fly in Texas.

However, to quote our Governor, the States have the right to experiment within our borders.

I am fed up with this focus on image. What has this Bachmann supporter taking a look at Perry is his stated desire to cut the federal government down to size. It is the SUBSTANCE that I am interested in, I could care less about the image.

” 3) This election will be more like 1860 than anything else. The old ways are dying and cannot be preserved. Perry’s appeal to conservatives is an illusion - we will either move towards a global citizenship and a global currency, or smash globalism once and for all and restore the American economy and real, constitutional money. I have no doubt that Perry is a globalist, until he convinces me otherwise. “

Actually, it’ s Texas Alliance for Life and Texas Right to Life, along with the Liberty Council and others.

Btw, you need to read his two books, besides acting on his pro-life convictions, he’s been writing about them for years.

They're all a bunch of sell-outs. They have "positions," carefully designed to fool the naive, but no intention of stopping the bloodshed except in some imaginary land somewhere over the rainbow.

I'm tired of it. Just keep the Oath and follow the Constitution and quit playing games.

"No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."

"No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Do you think states can allow homicide under our Constitution?

You do mean like the other variations of the definition of homicide and homicide laws in all the States, right?

It was the lousy definition of homicide concerning the unborn in Texas that opened the door to Roe's outcome. Read footnote 54 to the decision.

So, you can't just answer the question? Can the states allow homicide under our Constitution?

I think this is the one you're looking for. "Shield" said it was done by a fellow TX A&M Aggie who wasn't necessarily in Perry's camp but wanted to give things a fair look. And I believe he was about as fair as a human being can be.

Seventeen (17) things that critics are saying about Rick Perry

The Texas Code contains an unconstitutional provision, put there eight years ago, by “pro-life” Republicans, that fully identifies the fetus as a human person, immediately followed by a provision that ALLOWS THESE PERSONS TO BE KILLED BY THE ABORTIONISTS.

So, why, with a super-majority in the legislature in the last session, did “pro-life” Republicans and Rick Perry not repeal the second patently unconstitutional clause?

Second question: If the people of Texas gave “pro-life” Republicans 100% of the seats, do you believe they would outlaw killing babies in your state?

Because I don’t believe they would.

I really feel you should announce your party affiliation and office on your posts “EV.” I know it’s listed on your FR homepage but a lot of FReepers (like me before you alerted me to it) don’t know that you’re not going to vote Republican.
