PRINCETON, NJ -- President Barack Obama is closely matched against each of four possible Republican opponents when registered voters are asked whom they would support if the 2012 presidential election were held today. Mitt Romney leads Obama by two percentage points, 48% to 46%, Rick Perry and Obama are tied at 47%, and Obama edges out Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann by two and four points, respectively.

It's important. More important is that he's neck-and-neck with among adults! That's terrible news for the incumbent.

I just wish the election was in a couple months, not another year.

“The Obama people must be frightened by these results.”

False Messiah’s always disapoint, in the end. And ake no mistake, most Obama voters were CONVINCED they were electing a Messiah.

They thought they were voting for JFK II. They got President Erkel, instead.

For the first time, Gallup shows a named Republican defeating Obama.

Well, it shows a liberal who calls himself a Repubican defeating Obama.

I'd be careful of these polls at this point.

The left (and their media arm) WANT us to nominate Romney.

“i’ll go fishng if hes the nom.”

Be better that you commit suicide then, if you are willing to doom the nation.

ANYBODY, up to and INCLUDING HILLLARY, would be better than Obama, if you want this country to survive.

Did I miss something? Gore winning the popular vote? I thought I heard that when all was said and done Bush won the popular vote.

Of all Republican candidates, Romney is the only certain looser. I will vote for almost anyone before I vote Romney!

Romney has best name recognition right now, while Perry the least. This poll is real good news for Perry.

Lets quit being polite and go blunt. Romney is a progressive, just like Obama, Pelousy, Reid, Waters, Waxman, the dead Ted Kennedy and so many others we should not have to put up with!

Ultimately, it’s not so much the 47-45 such split, but whatever PA, OH, MI, NC, and FL decide. Everything else doesn’t much matter.

Oh, no, GWB won the electoral vote, 271-266-1, but he lost the popular vote, not mentioned in the Constitution, by I believe some 1.4 million votes.

“Half-baked fake,” a pejorative that applies to so many of our Republican “leaders”

Why do people act as if it’s impossible to disapprove of his job but that people who disappove would still vote for them?

Many liberals think Obama isn’t liberal enough and may disapprove but they won’t vote for a Republican no matter how strong of a “front-runner” they have.

The reverse is also true.

“Soory Hoss , that isn’t a Republican.”

True but Obama is in MOE or close to beaten by members of a number of parties:

Libertarian Ron Paul
Tea Party conservative Michelle Bachmann
conservative ex-Democrat Texas GOPer Rick Perry
moderate RINO Mitt Romney

It’s all good. Obama is in deep doodoo. ANY of our nominees will be electable.

The Ron Paul one is especially funny. Obama is within MOE of getting beaten by a 74-year-old who is supposedly ‘unelectable’.

“I am very excited to see Bachmann doing as well as she is. Perry too for that matter. “

I agree. Perry is in the race for one week ... and he’s at even level 47/47 vs Obama AND tops the GOP polls. Folks, that’s a WIN for Perry.

Bachmann too is holding up well for a candidate the media paints as ‘fringe’.

The best news is that the Romney “electability” argument is debunked. Let’s pick the BEST candidate, whoever that is can beat Obama.

“I hope there aren’t too many more conservative candidates jumping into the race when they see how beatable Obama is. That’s what happened in the last governors race in Illinois. There were several conservatives running in the primary, they cancelled each other out and a moderate candidate won. Seems like the same scenario for Romney.”

The only non-candidate who can have any impact is Sarah Palin. At this point, she too will likely split Tea Party conservative votes (with Bachmann and Perry) and help Romney incrementally. But poll-wise Romney is no longer the front-runner ... Perry is da man.

I dont think Palin will run. I think its a Bachmann-Perry-Romney race at this point and Perry will win it all.

Oh, but Myth is a Republican. He's just not a conservative. There's a difference between the two that the national party rams down our throats each and every day.
