The cost of U.S. military intervention in Libya has cost American taxpayers an estimated $896 million through July 31, the Pentagon said today.
The price tag includes the amounts for daily military operations, munitions used in the operation and humanitarian assistance for the Libyan people.
The U.S. has also promised $25 million in non-lethal aid to the Libyan Transitional National Council, half of which the Defense Department has already on MRE’s (military lingo for Meals, Ready to Eat).
The military delivered 120,000 Halal MRE’s to Benghazi in May and a second shipment that included medical supplies, boots, tents, uniforms, and personal protective gear in June.

Happened to catch Fox news and Heard Juan Williams say the “Libyans did it on their own” and had to laugh. How many sortees did our military fly
I hesistate to ask this because I think it makes me look partisan and petty.
I find myself, under my breath, rooting for Ghadaifi to stay in power. He is a tyrant and scum of the earth. However, I want him, for the time being, to retain power for two reasons:
(1) The folks that will replace him are, in the long run, no better than him. They aren’t unified and a really long and bloody civil war may occur between them. Also, I am terrified of another “Islamic” state being set up.
(2) I don’t want President Obama to claim a “victory” in overthrowing Ghadaifi.
Am I alone on this???

Since WHEN does our Military stockpile (and WHY) hundreds of thousands of "Halal" MRE's?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read, the number of Muslims serving in our Armed Forces are minisucule and most of those are not serving in areas which would require feeding them MRE's.
So what gives?
Are we providing MRE's to Iraqi and Af-Gan forces which of course are no doubt mostly populated with Muslims (considering, thanks to to our cluless, Compassionate Conservative, MORON, Bush, are now "Islamic Republics"), or maybe we are providing Halal MRE's to Fatah, Hamas, the Mooslimb Bruderhood and no doubt our newest "buds" (who Dear Leader is "negotiating with") the Tally-Ban?
Something does not compute here, but then again, nuttin' about the Islamic Appeasing Community Agitator and the "New PC, Wussified" Pentagon surprises me.
Glad I served 40+ years ago, cuz if I were in the Military today, I'd be tempted to head for Canada. lol

I thought the US TV detailed coverage of what US UK FR were doing in simply buried behind Obama’s TV pronouncements, BLAH DEFICT NOT MY FAULT, BLAH EAT YOUR PEAS, BLAH WE’RE TURNING THE CORNER. BLAH, GIVE ME YOUR MONEY.
For instance how many carriers were involved, how many sorties were flown, obviously we did not incur any casualties for none were reported, who were the commanders in charge, how many civilian casualties were there chargeable to the “allies’ as well as the Regime etc, If Bush had had such coverage we would have never heard of the attacks much less the sacking of the museum.
