Judges have a very poor history of modifying a death sentence after it’s been carried out.

How do they do that? Declare that's he's not really dead after he's been executed?

real flaming Lib. I learned this on FR don’tcha know.

This is the last place I would have expected to see so much Perry bashing. Texas has always been held up as "the" best state. Now we have a chance to put a pro-life, pro-gun, pro-God, pro-job creation, three term governor who served his country in the White House and people are focusing on Gardisil of all things. Good grief - words fail me.

From the standpoint of innocent Americans there is no such thing as “life without parole.” How many times have we seen “life without parole” turn into a lesser sentence...?

I have never seen this happen, and I would know.

Texas has always been held up as "the" best state.

Mostly by Texans. Have you ever been to Austin? Oh, If you believe in special rights for gays, Houston is a great place with an openly gay lesbian mayor who has pushed for special rights for gays and is one of the strongest advocates for gay adoption. There's places in San Antonio I wouldn't go even if armed. Texas only balanced its last two budgets by using billions of dollars of federal "stimulus" money.

I'm not saying Texas is not a great place, but it has it's problems like every place else. "The Best" is in the eye of the beholder.

“Google” the words “judge reduces life sentence” and you’ll have all the stuff you can stand to read for the next few months...

I googled "judge reduces life without parole sentence" and found only one, a 2010 Tulsa case, where an appeals court reduced a life without parole sentence.

But the point is that the judge CAN lower the sentence. If the word “life” means LIFE...how, exactly, is a “Life” sentence different from a “Life without parole” sentence? If a judge can lower a life sentence at will, he/she can just as easily change a “life without parole” sentence. Also, ff you're going to use six words in a google search there will be very few combinations that will provide you much info. Perhaps you could have modified your search by adding a few more unnecessary words and come up with even fewer examples. Did you do any research to see how many “Life Without Parole” sentences are later described by the media as simply “Life” sentences? Or were you happy enough with your search outcome that you weren't interested in any more info?

Try “googling” these words: “released after life without parole” and see what you get. And don't send me any resumes for jobs I might advertise that require something above the level of manual labor.

I guess you really showed me. The site you posted showed cases back to 1999. Not one case of a judge reducing a life without parole sentence. There are two cases where a governor commuted a life without parole sentence but, of course, they can also commute a death sentence.

Don't give up your day job.

And to the victims and the people who are endangered by releasing these criminals, remind me why it matters who it is who releases them? The point is that people doing “life without the possibility of parole” don't always do “life”...which was what you were initially trying to assert with your vacuous post. So now the issue is not that they are, in fact, released, but who it is who releases them. So, how long have you worked for the Obama administration?

I can see that your challenges are many. So let me help you remember how you first hung your “intellectual ass” out in this thread.

I said this:

“From the standpoint of innocent Americans there is no such thing as “life without parole.” How many times have we seen “life without parole” turn into a lesser sentence...?”

You responded with this:

“I have never seen this happen, and I would know.”

So...asshole...where in the post you “responded” to with all your “I should know” experience did I specify “judges”...?

What a petty, petulant, poster. There are far more cases where a death sentence is commuted to a life sentence than where a life without parole sentence is reduced. I guess that would mean you would agree with the statement, "From the standpoint of innocent Americans there is no such thing as “a death sentence.”'

Your lack of logic and reason is only surpassed by your crudeness and witlessness. Thanks for playing, but better come back when you grow up.

Point is, your initial post on that thread was nothing but bovine excrement. You are wrong, and that has been clearly established. All your attempts to redirect the argument to something other than your initial point only prove that even you realize you're clueless.

Think again. Here's your post:

"With so few Liberals living in Texas, they have a shortage of murderers that other more liberal states don't enjoy."

Here's my reply.

"Texas, historically, has a very high murder rate, even with the death penalty."

Even with all your unnecessary rudeness and crudeness, you are still completely and irrefutably, WRONG.

Again, you attempt change the debate. You made the statement that I had quoted earlier about death penalty verdicts not being reduced. It was a pretty clear assertion of what you portrayed as “fact.” Of course, your declaration has now been proved to be nothing but bovine excrement. You were, and continue to be wrong...clearly established. All my responses following your challenge, and all your responses to my posts, were dealing with that subject. If you can't find it in yourself to at admit you were wrong in your statement about death penalty verdicts not being reduced, perhaps you could scrounge up a morsel of integrity and at least not lie about the subject being debated.

You started out with an, obviously, untrue statement. Then, when confronted with the falsity of your statement, you began to shovel yourself even deeper into a hole. Now you have brought in the backhoe and, I'm afraid, you have dug yourself so deep, I can't hear you anymore.

Our “debate” was on the subject of the second post, which is clear from reading the entire thread...and you are still a liar.
