Its a pure political move. Does anyone believe he cares about the people who may get ravaged by this storm? Not on your life. He is trying to score political points and save his own arse from getting drenched. What a commander-in-chief the sheeples of this country elected.

Shouldn’t he show his concern by choppering into the area that will be worst effected by this? What if local disaster response isn’t up to par? Could this be Obama’s Katrina?

I have no idea why any Republican or conservative who opposes BHO’s policies would ever complain when he is away and on vacation. If it were up to me, he would spend the rest of his term in office away from Washington and on a golf course. I sleep better the further away he is from Washington and the less he is in the news. It is better for nothing to get done than for BHO to continue on with his agenda to “tranform America”
Let us not begrudge his vacations. Encourage him to take more. I sleep better when he is not busy at work in the White House.
Obambi says Hurricane Irene has “the potential to be historic”. Notice the choice of words. Historic just like his own Presidency. As bad as Irene might get, it’ll do less damage than his “Historic Presidency”.But he sees it as one more opportunity to preside over something big and take on the mantle of Saviour once again.
Just be happy they didn’t try to change the National Anthem to “Moving On Up”.
The extra jet for Michelle Obama makes me wonder, just who else do they have there with them? Who is in the entourage? This is a means of hiding that, as she will slip back to DC quietly, under the radar.

The next president should declare that he wont waste tax payers money jetting around and will stay in washigton until unemployment is below 5%.

That's EXACTLY what this storm is. His radio address earlier today was proof of that.
When it makes landfall, I believe Irene will dissipate quickly because there is currently no well-defined eye, and it's hitting the colder Atlantic waters. That's not to say there won't be damage, flooding, etc., but the normal precautions (EVACUATE in an orderly manner when directed to do so) will prevent the majority (if not all) of the casualties. Florida native and veteran of many hurricanes, to include Erin and Opal.
The MSM is spinning up the fear-mongering (as they always do), and Obama's going to have a disaster relief party in search of a disaster.

Yup! If it hadn't been for Barry addressing me about this impending "historic" hurricane, I'd be sitting on my ass here in Arizona doing nothing to get ready. I've filled 500 gallon milk jugs with water, filled all my floatable ice chests with ice and beer and bought 5 packages of flashlight batteries. I'm ready. Let's make HISTORY! (Again! Like we did in 2008! Yes We Can!).
