Fmr. Obama Economic Adviser Now Blaming Earthquake For Economic Woes
Real Clear Politics ^ | August 25, 2011 | RCP

Former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and senior economic adviser to President Obama appeared on FOX News' "Hannity" to defend the President and the economy.

Earlier in August President Obama cited the earthquake and tsuanmi in Japan and the Arab Spring as reasons why the economy has not improved.

Goolsbee in his own words: "In the year 2010 which is when most of the clips when the president was saying we were going to grow again. We were growing and over that 17 months we added two-and-a-half million jobs.

"Now, at the beginning of this year we get earthquakes, tsunamis, revolutions in the Middle East, European financial crises, now they even have earthquakes out of Washington, D.C. I mean, we've had a series of things that have put some heavy blows and slowed the economy back down again. But, I think it's a little -- I don't think you want to confuse something that is way down and starting to grow out."

Some chips fall off an old obelisk and suddenly it’s responsible for an economic collapse?

But the center of the financial district is destroyed by terrorists in NYC along with the death of thousands and Bush keeps the economy pumping with judicial actions and he gets no credit.

It’s like the old Soviet Union, where poor crop yields were blamed on 70 years of bad weather.

2 & a half MILLION NEW jobs????

I call BS.

Maybe 500,000 new jobs in the Federal sector-—which is exactly where we do NOT need them.

Maybe he could explain how the earthquake that happened 3 days ago sent unemployment up in August? Maybe I'm just stupid, but I have a hard time believing all those people applied for unemployment benefits because they knew there would be an earthquake last Tuesday. /s

Is Obama's base so stupid they would believe this garbage?

I really believe that they are just all out of spin. Most of their excuses anymore are uninspired and just dumb.

“Is Obama’s base so stupid they would believe this garbage?”

It certainly seems that way.

Actually I thought it was the threat of an alien invasion that was hurting our economy. /s

I would think that by now all of Zer0's "advisors" would be prone to keep their mouths shut. They are beginning to look like Obama ass kissing fools.

Goolsby touts 2.5 million jobs created...which increasingly brings snickers and sometimes outright laughter...in the face of the official unemployment rate of 9.1%, and the unofficial rate hovering somewhere around 16-20%.

I kinda feel sorry for these people who probably formerly enjoyed some credibility among people, but which is now gone.....

...well....maybe not very sorry...they made their bed...

..they will all go the way of Jimmy Carter's "advisors"..

..can anyone really remember....or give a shiite who they were?

Krugman said the threat of an alien invasion would pump UP the economy! Just think of the trillions of dollars moving through the market just to prepare for intragallactic warfare!

The reason we’re not improving economically is because Obama’s base (a significant portion) is this stupid! We get the government we deserve.
Prepare accordingly.

Don’t tell Krugman! He’s relying on disasters to prime the economic pump!

(Aliens, of course, but same idea.)

Widespread Earthquake Damage
Upsets Obama Recovery Timetable

Reports were also received of several broken yogurt cups but the
damage could not be immediately confirmed by the administration.

“the wreck of the Barry Sotero”

And last weekend my dog was diagnosed with a benign tumor on his foot.
If Obama thinks I’m trying to be funny, well, he can try walking around with a plastic `Elizabethan’ collar around his head. Banging into doors, coffee tables, walls.
That sure didn’t ameliorate the terrible economy that he has no responsibility, but plenty of excuses, for.
(Fore?)
