Author Stetson Kennedy, whose infiltration of the Ku Klux Klan helped expose its workings in the 1940s, has died. He was 94.
Historian and friend Peggy Bulger said he died Saturday. He had been in hospice care at a hospital near St. Augustine, Florida.
In the 1940s, Kennedy helped write "Superman" radio show episodes that exposed and ridiculed the Klan's rituals. In the 1950s he wrote "I Rode with the Ku Klux Klan," which was later renamed "The Klan Unmasked," and "The Jim Crow Guide." He passed along information about the Klan to the FBI, the IRS and other authorities.
Bulger once said that Kennedy's work was one of the strongest blows against the Klan.

Yet a former klan member manage to get elected to the senate.
“and now for my next impression......Jesse Owens!”
Bump
RIP.
Who’s to say it wasn’t far more than that?
Maybe Allan West will write a book entitled I rode with the Black Congressiona Caucus. Or the CBC unmasked.
Any kin to Whitey Bulger? He had FBI ties, as well.
BTW the use of the Superman radio show to mock the Klan was total genius. He would pass on the latest code words to the show's producers, who would then use them in the show in a manner that would not only mock the Klan but also make it wonder how their latest codes and messages were leaking out. Quite an amazing piece of work, especially considering that at the time the Klan was quite a large (and powerful) institution and not the loose amalgamation of inbred idiots it currently is.
Rest in peace.
