The record number of firearm background checks performed by the FBI this year signals that gun sales are on the rise in Ohio, an increase that gun-rights advocates and local store owners attribute largely to political and economic fears.
Meanwhile, even though the number of concealed handgun licenses issued to Miami Valley residents fell in 2010, firearm groups said 2009 was a record year and the popularity of carrying continues to trend upward.
During the first seven months of this year, the FBI conducted 247,847 background checks for firearm purchases at gun sellers in the state, up 17.7 percent from the same period in 2010, 9.2 percent from 2009 and 42.4 percent from 2008, according to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
Background checks are one of the best measures of gun sales because federally licensed gun-sellers are required to perform them during a sale. Not all checks lead to purchases, but most do.

The zombies are getting armed as well. Next time you pop into a chain like Bass Pro or Cabelas, look for the little fat white girl handling guns. Then look who is standing behind her about 20 feet away pretending to be interested in fishing lures. He can’t and won’t buy the gun but she will for him.

on another note, people are buying a lot of guns, but how about the ammunition, I understand it’s getting more difficult to buy..
I have a sufficient stock of ammo. I think I heard someone say that it’s a little easier to find/get these days.

I never owned a gun until the Rodney King riots. I saw the 6:00pm news when Reginald Denny was pounded in the head with bricks by people just having a 'good time.'
Before I went to bed that evening I had bought a S&W .38, a Winchester 30-30 rifle and a Remingtom 12 gauge shot-gun.
I've bought 2-3 guns per year since that time.
I have a friend who says that if you know how many guns you own, you don't have enough, lol.
