No, they induced a coma so they could save him by putting in a feeding tube without him tearing it out. They would have served us better by doing nothing and not wasting our tax dollars on the monster.
I watched the coverage of his trial on InSession. Cameras were not allowed in the court room, but there were reporters in the court room who reported the testimony.
This pervert not only “married” 12 year old girls, but he raped his nieces who were around 6 or 7 when it happened.
He also raped his pre-teen nephews.
He broke up over 300 families — sending the wives to other husbands.
He had 79 wives, a quarter of whom where underage.
He had everyone living in the compound bring their pet dog to him and he killed the pet, or had someone else do it by slashing their throats.
He had underage girls participate in group sex acts in the baptismal.
When he was caught, he had a tape of himself raping a 12 year old, in his car.
I am not making this up. This monster deserves to die a LONG, PAINFUL death, however the Spirit living within me tells me to pray for him to repent and ask Christ for forgiveness.

Does Jeffs perhaps have a medical problem like diabetes which would have made a 3-day fast inadvisable and dangerous, so that the PTB felt they had to take action?
I could see the prison admins being reluctant to be part of the creation of a martyr. It’s usually not good for one’s career.
That does not mean I am comfortable with his being murdered by the State, two wrongs and all that.
Besides there is the dangerous precedent of passively allowing the State to arbitrarily end a life, without due process.

Three days does not seem like a long time. But he’s been not eating or drinking. Humans can exist for several weeks without food, however after several days without water he could be suffering from a series of issues any of which could cause a coma.
