Warren Jeffs In Coma, May Not Survive: Source
ABC News ^ | August 29, 2011 | Katie Kindelan and Kaitlyn Folmer

Posted on 08/29/2011 11:09:30 AM PDT by Zakeet

Warren Jeffs, the polygamous sect leader and convicted child rapist, is in a coma and may not survive, a source close to Jeffs tells ABC News.

Jeffs, 55, had been fasting for the past three days and became so weak that doctors at the Texas prison where he is serving a life sentence induced a coma, according to the source.

The leader of a radical polygamist sect of Mormonism known as the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (FLDS), Jeffs is scheduled to go on trial a second time in October to face charges of first-degree bigamy. Conviction would be punishable by up to 99 years or life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Jeffs was moved last Tuesday to a solitary cell at the Powledge Unit in Palestine, Texas, because of the large amount of media coverage surrounding his case, prison officials said.

Now they expect him to die?

Can you say murder under the color of law?

"Induced coma" is code for drug stupor.

Why would you give drugs to a person who is in a weakened state?

To finish the job. He wanted to starve himself to death and the warden wanted to be sure he didn't change is mind.

"Polygamous pervert about to hie to Kolob ping. "

He gets his own planet right? The Mormon promise of a whole planet to do with as you please beats the Muslim promise of 72 virgins.

And Jeffs is Joseph Smith's true disciple. He has done exactly what Joseph Smith did. Claimed to be a prophet and used his self announced status to marry a bunch of women and children, in contradiction to what Genesis and the New Testament say.

Unless he’s fasting from water too. No water will cause death much sooner; although in a coma after three days sounds very unlikely unless he was extremely malnourished already.

My guess is there is a difference between sedating and inducing a coma. YMMV.

If this is how it went down then they got some real problems. You don’t induce a coma except in very extreme circumstances, and I don’t think three days of fasting qualifies.

There are a lot of variables.

Typically when a person fasts, or someone goes on a hunger strike, they continue to ingest fluids.

Three days without hydration is very dangerous, three days without nutrition usually isn't.

If they can induce a coma against his will then I would think they could also insert an IV against his will.

And he IS going to die on their watch, it's just a question of when.

Turn him back into General Population, hunger will be the least of his worries.

That crazy supporter of Ron Paul, Robert Morrow calls Jeffs' "family" a peace loving, homeschooling family.

Morrow said the WORST thing Perry ever did was to prosecute Jeffs.

We need no better reason to support Perry than this.

No, they induced a coma so they could save him by putting in a feeding tube without him tearing it out. They would have served us better by doing nothing and not wasting our tax dollars on the monster.

I watched the coverage of his trial on InSession. Cameras were not allowed in the court room, but there were reporters in the court room who reported the testimony.

This pervert not only “married” 12 year old girls, but he raped his nieces who were around 6 or 7 when it happened.

He also raped his pre-teen nephews.

He broke up over 300 families — sending the wives to other husbands.

He had 79 wives, a quarter of whom where underage.

He had everyone living in the compound bring their pet dog to him and he killed the pet, or had someone else do it by slashing their throats.

He had underage girls participate in group sex acts in the baptismal.

When he was caught, he had a tape of himself raping a 12 year old, in his car.

I am not making this up. This monster deserves to die a LONG, PAINFUL death, however the Spirit living within me tells me to pray for him to repent and ask Christ for forgiveness.

His pervo deluded cult gets their martyr that much sooner.

This is Jeffs manipulating the cult by any means necessary to keep them believing he is another mormon prophet in the manner of Joseph Smith. I'm sure there is a power play ongoing within the FLDS over who will take Jeffs place, and he is determined to rule from prison. This is a play for sympathy for him and a way to undercut any successor.

Yep. And I will not mourn his passing.

I will mourn yet another nail in the coffin of legal proceedings.

I would have absolutely no problem with a person being executed, provided they got a fair and honest trial, conviction and sentence.

I do have a major problem with someone who is politically inconvenient being ‘Jim McDougaled’ by deliberate medical malpractice, that crosses the line between justice and totalitarian revenge/murder.

It’s a very slippery slope, allowing one’s enemies to be liquidated by the state. The state has no friends, save its own raw power.
