N00ter Keeps ISPs In Line Over Net Neutrality (Wow, individuals have power after all!)

It may be a while before Congress & Friends get this whole Net Neutrality debate squared away. But that’s no biggie, since Dan Kaminsky has cooked up his own little solution to figure out if your ISP is throttling service. It’s called N00ter, short for neutral rooter, and Kaminsky showed it off for the first time at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, reports Forbes.

Here’s how it works: N00ter scopes out whether or not an ISP is artificially slowing down or boosting traffic to and from a specific site. It basically acts as a VPN, sending traffic through a proxy and masking its source and desired destination.

Congress, the media, and especially the marxists at the FCC keep trying to tell us that as individuals, we're stupid. As individuals, we're sitting ducks. Our only solution, is to have a big government solution to a problem that's largely theoretical anyways.

The individuals strike again! We found a way to solve the problem all on our own. Uh oh. Looks like we don't need big government after all.

You know, that’s it, that’s what bothers me about so called “net neutrality”. That it’s about government saying “you experts are all morons, you can’t do anything well, but we’re going to fix your stupid ways with more laws”.

That was the little bug that eventually got me as well. At some point, I started trying to look under the hood. This Net Neutrality thing is a direct assault on the first amendment and free speech.

Anybody who has joined the fight against the fairness doctrine, you haven’t seen anything yet. Wonder why the FCC was so willing to dump the fairness doctrine? They don’t need it. They have net neutrality.

Tools like this have been around for quite a while. Pretty cool if there is ISP competition in your area and at least one practices net neutrality, useless if not.
