Why Perry Can Beat Obama and Romney Can't
The American Spectator ^ | August 30, 2011 | David Catron, health care revenue cycle expert...

Posted on 08/30/2011 6:11:51 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Most of the GOP establishment is uncomfortable with Rick Perry. Few have openly attacked the Texas governor, as Karl Rove did when Perry criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. However, the grumblings of former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan, a number of former Bush aides, and sundry other Republican luminaries have made it clear that they would prefer to see Mitt Romney; as the GOP standard-bearer in 2012. Even inveterate RINO-basher Ann Coulter has said "Romney could actually beat Obama" and that Perry "won't live up to expectations." Coulter and the GOP establishment are wrong. Not only is Perry the favorite of rank-and-file Republicans, he is far better positioned than Romney to debate the President on the two issues that will inevitably dominate next year's campaign -- jobs and health care.

On jobs, Perry has a story to tell that Romney can't hope to match. As the Wall Street Journal recently reported, "Some 37% of all net new American jobs since the recovery began were created in Texas." While most states have experienced anemic job growth since June of 2009, and eighteen governors have watched their states endure actual declines in growth, Governor Perry has presided over a state economy that has added 265,300 new jobs. That makes Texas the most prolific job generator in the nation. By contrast, Mitt Romney's record on job creation is lackluster at best. Job growth during his single term as Governor of Massachusetts was less than one percent, which "badly lagged other high-skill, high-wage, knowledge economy states like New York (2.7%), California (4.7%) and North Carolina (7.6%)."

Consider this in the context of the upcoming presidential campaign: Rick Perry can contrast Obama's truly pathetic record on jobs with his own remarkable success. He can stand before the country in a debate and....

Well one reason is that Romney is a known RINO. I don't know whether Perry is or not--but I suspect that he is.

This artical is spot on ! And completely captures exactly why I support Rick Perry, and why I think he will be the next president.

Ruling Class Republicans didn’t like Ronald Reagan either. He should have been elected president in ‘76, but the country clubbers of the north and east wanted Gerald Ford.

What the Ruling Class still hasn’t learned is that they are a tiny sliver of the population, and they cannot win elections without the great Middle Class, which longs for freedom from the mass of taxes and regulations heaped on them by government bureaucrats trying to justify their fat paychecks.

This election should finally be about Big Government vs. Freedom.

ANYONE can beat Obama. He’s been stuck on “STUPID” since Jan 20, 2009, and has never looked back. At the rate he’s going, he will make Carter look like Reagan. The RATs only hope is to field another candidate.

I think that we have already gone past the point (in terms of the entire country) of even arguing about Obama - he is one sorry donkey, and we’re now debating about WHO (on the Republican Party) will set the agenda past 2012.

Perry’s track record in Texas concerning his gov mandate for innoculations, big donor cronyism, double-talk on immigration, association with Aga Kahn and Muslim outreach, are starting to ‘out-shine’ whatever rhetoric and other positions he’s taken with respect to conservative principles.

To me, and many others, it’s more about “what you do” versus “what you say”.

"Perry is FAR more conservative than Bush."

I hope so!

Bush was a FAILURE and an ARCH-CRYPTO-RINO!

We do not need another one in the White House--or in Congress!

There are two enemies of conservatism to beat in POTUS 2012 campaign. The first is Milt and the second is the Marxist hostile occupier of the Oval Office.

Republicans cannot credibly run on repealing Obamacare with Romney as the nominee.

Romney Gives Mass. Health Reform an 'A' (in July, 2009)

"The portrait depicts the governor seated at the front edge of his desk wearing his trademark business suit. Beside him is a small framed photo of his wife, Ann, and ... [wait for it] ... a copy of the health care reform law he called his greatest achievement.

IMHO, Governor Rick Perry can win both of these fights. And the consequences of not winning both are too severe to not factor in electability.

Here is what Perry has done recently as reported by a left wing rag. Note voter ID, budget cuts, protection for the unborn, private property protection.

I love Ann, but what would be worse, Rick Perry not living up to expectations or Mitt Romney LIVING up to expectations?

Ouch!

Here's another theme that will attract independents to vote for Perry:

Tort Reform. It seems to be working well in Texas, as evidenced by the 20,000+ doctors that have relocated their practices to Texas.

-"Here is what Perry has done recently as reported by a left wing rag."

Please! Don't try to make a case for "how conservative" a candidate is, by quotating a "left wing rag". Goodness sakes! If the best one can do in support of Perry is to use "left wing rags" .... to show how conservative he is, well, things have gone past the serious point.

>> the country clubbers of the north and east wanted Gerald Ford

It makes perfect sense that there *is* a GOP elite (i.e. “Country Club” republicans).

What makes no sense at all, though, is *how* they arrive at the candidate they end up pushing. Ford? Dole? McCain? I mean, c’mon! What the hell is wrong with these elites? Too many three martini lunches after a round of golf?
