If the Republican Presidential race came down
to just Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, who would
you vote for?
Rick Perry ....................................................... 59%
Mitt Romney.................................................... 28%
Not sure .......................................................... 13%

I just had a thought that Jon Huntsman will become a 3rd party candidate and be the "John Anderson" of 2012.

Difference is.. Anderson had a measure of charisma, plus some followers who actually looked to him as the "moderate" GOP alternative to Reagan. Until he can actually learn to speak publicly without sounding like he's afraid of his own shadow, Huntsman will continue to barely register on any scale.

They are all filthy buggers with a agenda. It`s not even debatable. And for the record I have held this view years before I even heard of Sarah Palin

Fair enough. You don't mind if I bookmark this, do you? In the unlikely event that Sarah suddenly starts to rise in the polls, I look forward to seeing you denounce those polls as vociferously as you denounce all other polls.

Don’t forget folks, he’s not a RINO even if his people are perfectly comfortable tapping Democrat polls to support him.

It's understood that you don't like Perry, but I've got news for you; it's not only "Democrat polls" that show him completely dominating the field. It's ALL polls (left, right, non-partisan), from ALL sources, across nearly ALL demographics - young/old, rich/poor, North/South etc.

Perry takes national double-digit lead among GOP frontrunners (Gallup - Aug, 2011)

Perry takes national double-digit lead among GOP frontrunners (Ramussen - Aug, 2011)

Perry takes national double-digit lead among GOP frontrunners (PPP - Aug, 2011)

Perry takes national double-digit lead among GOP frontrunners (CNN - Aug, 2011)

Perry takes national double digit lead in 5 separate polls (NYT - Aug, 2011)

Perry leads GOP contenders in IOWA (PPP - Aug, 2011)

Perry leads GOP contenders in South Carolina (Magellan - Aug, 2011)

Perry leads GOP contenders by 22 points among Tea Party supporters (Gallup - Aug, 2011)

Perry led GOP contenders in North Carolina and Virginia BEFORE he declared candidacy

Only 12% of Republicans and GOP leaning independents hold a negative view of Perry (AP/GfK - Aug, 2011)

Perry beating Obama in Florida (Magellan Data - Aug, 2011)

Perry and Obama tied nationally (Gallup - Aug, 2011)

Perry and Obama in statistical dead heat (Rasmussen - Aug, 2011)

Obama 50%, Palin 33% (Rasmussen - Aug, 2011)

41% of GOP primary voters and two thirds of all registered voters say there is no chance they would vote for Sarah Palin (Pew - Aug, 2011)

So you're mad that he wants Romney to drop out?

It does seem to be shaping up that way. And since nobody in the GOP that I know likes Huntsman, but several Democrats have stated they’d vote for him over Obama, I think he’ll pull 70/30 from Obama vs. the GOP Nominee.

If 2012 is 1980 redux, these are the new actors:

Rick Perry as Ronald Reagan
Barack Obama as Jimmy Carter
Michelle Bachmann as Phil Crane
Mitt Romney as Harold Stassen
Jon Huntsman as John Anderson
Ron Paul as ?????

"I mean, seriously, the last republican I can remember is Ronald Reagan."

I'm with you on this. I'm totally supporting Perry but Perry, Palin, Cain, etc are NOT the second coming of Ronald Reagan. God broke the mold after that one.

If Huntsman is a 3rd Party “John Anderson” he will pull votes from Obama.

You know, most folks here trashed Obama supporters for ignoring all that was known about him.

Now the folks on our side are perfectly willing to ignore all that we know about Perry.

What makes the Perry supporters any better than Obama supporters? They guy has been doing ghastly stuff for decades, and yet, it means nothing to his supporters. He’s the go to guy, even though we have rock solid people in the hunt.

Perry’s own history reveals him to be a RINO.

If polls are all faked, then why aren’t there any polls faked in a direction that you’d want to see? Seems there’d be a market for that, if we’re just inventing numbers?

Limbaugh does this sometimes also, gets a little delusional. Sometimes we do have to accept that if a preponderance of polls show a candidate winning , well then he is probably going to win. There was a whole blog in 2008, HillBuzz that got fat and happy on people coming there to bitch about polls, how they were tainted and how McCain was going to win. Well that turned out to be delusional.

Yeah well big deal. All those polls are fake. Or they’re purposefully engineered by the Bilderlateralist Commission to trick conservatives into voting for someone besides SARAH! Or else they’re all because Republican primary voters have Palin Derangement Syndrome. Or maybe all three - who knows? I’m going to have to throw a dart at the dartboard to pick one.

I mean, seriously, the last republican I can remember is Ronald Reagan.

And Reagan's legacy isn't exactly firewall conservative either. He signed into law the Military Ex-Spouse Protection Act (which screwed countless military members out of part of their retired pay), along with the infamous amnesty of the then three million illegals. That said, I voted for him and am glad I did... but the Gipper had his faults as well.

Keep in mind that Rasmussen owns accuracy in polling and has the history to prove it. Perry shines in Rasmussen polling also. As for PPP, this poll was simply an interesting aside, because it does rather follow the obvious—that Rick Perry rocks. Everywhere.

Is it going to be “fun” to be the front runner? Usually, not. With Rick, however, this will be fun!

Kinda strange, a democratic poll showing major support for a republican candidate, when the democrats are all hoping for a Romney run when they know Romney will lose in the general.

I don’t pay much attention to the polls, just note them and go on. Votes count, polls dont much. Some are lucky and get close, most others are way off.

If Perry wins the Iowa caucuses and then the South Carolina primary, it's pretty much a snowball going downhill.

As of now, he's ahead in both states significantly.
