A masked man blasted a passing vehicle on Interstate 95 with a shotgun early Sunday, then robbed the occupants when they stopped to check on the damage, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.
The gunman fired birdshot at a southbound 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by 23-year-old Angela Greene of Conway, S.C., striking the vehicle in the side about 5:45 a.m. Sunday, said sheriff's Maj. Howard Branch. No one was injured, he said.
"We think he was in the woods right there in that area," Branch said. "Just a random vehicle shot at."
Passenger Maggie Hennigan, 48, said the four occupants were members at the Word of Life Christian Fellowship Church in Bucksport, S.C. They were returning from the funeral of their pastor's brother in New Jersey.
Some of the passengers had dozed off when they woke to a jolt and a deafening cracking sound.
"I remember hearing this 'Pow!' " Hennigan said. "I jumped up. I was like, 'What was that?' ... When we got out, we saw it. I said, 'This is a shotgun blast. We need to get back in the car.' ''
The blast had pockmarked the area near the mirror on the driver's side with birdshot, she said.
"If he had shot even a hair up, he probably would have killed her," Hennigan said. "It sprayed, and you could see where maybe five to 10 of those pellets actually went inside the side of the vehicle."

And, then they waited there for police to arrive?
And, then when the guy tries to break out the window to get at them, instead of driving off, the mom GETS OUT OF THE CAR “to plead for her daughter’s life”?
What on earth were they thinking/doing? Weird story on many levels.

Yes, and he did it three times.
Unacceptable and inappropriate.
“Did we just get shot at? Let’s stop to retaliate.”
But its best to keep on truckin' with a call in the local PD.
That does not help the reader.
Pretty scary, guy obviously needs to be caught and charged with attempted murder.
