The mayor of Quartzsite, Ariz., the town seething in vitriol since police forcibly removed a woman from speaking at a public meeting despite the mayor's objections lost in a recall election last night, but claims the "corrupt" town council fixed the results to force him out.
"They found a whole bunch of early ballots they could stuff the box with," said Mayor Ed Foster, telling WND the election was "absolutely" stolen.
Foster says at the polling place, he was winning by a 2-to-1 margin over former Town Councilman and Quartzsite Fire Department Capt. Jose Lizarraga.
But there had been 328 early ballots cast, and 208 of those went to Lizarraga, giving the win to Lizarraga by a final tally of 289 votes to 230.
"There's no doubt about it [being a fixed election]," said Foster. "The early voting was so obscenely different. ... Whether people voted early or late should not have affected the weight of the vote."
But the outcome is not deterring Foster from continuing his fight against alleged corruption in his rural town. In fact, he plans on running again for mayor, as primaries are slated for March, and a general election in May.
"They stole it from me. I'm gonna take it back," he said.

Funny you should say that. Wyatt Earp actually lived very near Quartzsite in the later years of his life. After he "retired," he made his way to the Lower Colorado River across from Parker, Arizona (a little north of Quartzsite on the California side).
The town is named after him. It's called Earp, California, just north of Big River and west of Parker.
Of course, he wouldn't recognize Quartzsite at all.
In the winter months, it's the RV capital of North America. Bumper to bumper. It's amazing!
AZ needs to close the Quartzite exits.
That problem kind of solves itself in winter. The roadways and exits are so jam-packed with RVers (and other vehicles) that it's impossible to get anywhere.
But don't get me wrong. In January, the world's largest swap meet takes place in Quartzsite, and I usually attend. It's amazing the amount of junk you can buy for $10.00.
Anyone know who the “D’s” and the “R’s” are?
Wyatt Earp died in Hollywood, Ca where he lived out his final years.
But even up to a year before his death, he'd often return to his cabin near Earp, California, to work his mining outfit -- I think called the Happy Day Mine.
One of my buddies in Havasu tells me that his grandfather (when he was a small boy) once saw Earp in Parker in the 1920s. My buddy's grandfather said he didn't remember much about the encounter except for two things: Earp was dressed rather fancy-like in a nice suit and that Earp had the "coldest" eyes he had ever seen.
Apparently, it unnerved the kid. Lol.
Interesting, a lot of the old gunmen had that said about them.
Mexico has fully arrived in Arizona! What progress!
