Rick Perry Leads While Voters Want Sarah Palin on the Sidelines
Sunshine State News ^ | September 3, 2011 | Kevin Derby

Posted on 09/03/2011 7:24:40 AM PDT by AAABEST

A Fox News Poll unveiled late Thursday revealed that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas held a solid lead over former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

(snip)

When other candidates -- including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani -- were added to the mix, Perry remained in the lead. Both Palin and Giuliani have left the door open to running for the Republican presidential nomination.

Perry led that scenario with 26 percent followed by Romney with 18 percent. Palin took third with 8 percent followed by Paul with 7 percent.

(snip)

When Fox News looked at all voters, they found very little support for a possible Palin presidential campaign. Palin will be stumping in Iowa, which holds the first caucus, and New Hampshire, home of the first presidential primary, over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Only 20 percent of all voters wanted Palin to run for the White House while 74 percent opposed the idea -- and the voters who wanted her staying out of the contest included a large part of her base.

A mere 25 percent of Republicans backed a Palin presidential candidacy while 71 percent were lined up against it. Even among voters who considered themselves part of the tea party movement, Palin flopped. Only 28 percent of the tea party voters supported Palin entering the race while 66 percent opposed it.

“She endorsed him for Governor. Was he NOT a crony capitalist then”

Sure. He was the lesser of three evils. I do not know if she knew his complete history or not. Because she endorsed him does not mean she endorsed everything he did. Nor does it mean she would endorse him for another office or against different opposition.

Endorsing someone for dog catcher does not mean you endorse them for the Supreme Court. This is not higher math or quantum mechanics. I can explain it to you, but I can’t make you understand it.

You’ll also notice, they always refer to Perry Campaign rhetoric for their arguments. Its like dealing with Obamabots.

I’ll have to assume that’s your response to post #66. Completely lame.

For the record, I want Sarah Palin to join the primary race. It’s silly, and desired by the Left, for conservatives to argue between these two. I once was concerned that it might help SlickMitty but I don’t see that any longer. If we end up with Palin or Perry, it’s all good. It means Willard is beaten and Zero is next.

Wish you were on our side for this one, AAA. But we'll get you sooner or later ... ;)

If she gets the party nod (which I don't see happening) I'll be joining you and we'll be high-fiving - just like old times.

The more likely scenario however is that you'll eventually be joining me in pitching Perry and we'll be high-fiving - just like old times.

W00T!

I will vote for Perry but will work for Palin. I like him, but he is my 3rd or 4th choice. Doubt Palin cares about polls at this point. They are useless as ____s on a ____.

Pray for America

Roger that. Don’t worry I don’t accuse you of having the courage to face reality.

I'd prefer Perry on the sidelines. No open borders RINOs.

Same media that picked McCain, Dole, and other RINOs. I can’t believe such intelligent people as FREEPERS are falling for it AGAIN.

Astounding, isn't it. We will see how they react once they see her war chest after the first week of announcing.

The MSM and Fox lies about Sarah. The elites are deathly afraid of her.

Perry is a more solid and electable candidate. Frankly, he'd make a much better president and Commander in Chief as well.

That said, I'd certainly support Palin if she got the nod. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but I just don't see it happening.

They knew each other through the RGA before she campaigned for him.

If she gets in the race, IMO, it won’t be to win but, to make some big bucks.

No open borders RINOs.

He may not be everything we would wish for on illegal immigration, but calling him an open borders RINO is misinformation - i.e. false witness.

Immigration:

Advocated for and eventually signed a stringent voter ID law

Pushed for anti-sanctuary city law

Opposes the federal dream act

August, 2010: Perry asks Obama for 1,000 additional National Guard troops on border

Perry sends Whitehouse $350 million bill for cost of illegal immigration

Advocates the use of unmanned drones to patrol border

"I can promise you that when I’m the President of the United States, the border will be secure" (1:36)

I think the PEOPLE are picking Perry. The evidence is just too overwhelming. All republican profiles prefer him. Young, old, rich, poor. The only exception being women. Women tend to look for a safety net and this is just normal. And why Obama did so well. Women are you reading this??? haha

“If she gets in the race, IMO, it won’t be to win but, to make some big bucks.”

Wrong again, wolfie.

Is this the PDS fallback position now that it is obvious that she is getting in? You will be singing the same song as the band is playing ruffles and flourishes, after she says “So help me God”, on the steps of the Capitol in 16 months.

You clowns kill me. You act as if this election is a silly show like the academy awards.

This is a fight for the survival of the Republic, and you should be concerned with that above all else.

If you truly believe that the same people that have pulled the Lucy act on you so many times, can save the Republic, then you have become willfully deluded in your thinking, and the Republic is surely lost.

If you care about saving the Republic you will quit the childish attacks on the very people that could bring a little sanity to the government process, you know someone that actually speaks truthfully all the time, not just at election time.

If you want to be manipulated into another race that pitts bad against worse, then keep up the mindless sniping, you will then have done your part in killing Liberty around the world, because if our Constitution dies here, there will be freedom nowhere in the world.

That is how serious this election is, and anyone but Obama is a nice meme but it provides cover for another Bush, Romney, Dole, Huntsman socialist lite sneak into office and deley for a while, the decline, into tyranny.

God’s will be done.
