Perry tells NH no to border fence

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he opposes a fence along the U.S. border with Mexico.

Speaking to hundreds of New Hampshire voters at a private reception Saturday afternoon, the Texas governor says a fence would be ineffective and take too long to build.

The comments, which produced one angry shout, expose a rift with some conservative voters over Perry's immigration record. Tea party activists in Texas have been particularly upset by his steady opposition to the fence. He also signed a law giving illegal immigrants in-state tuition for Texas universities.

How about sensors that allow rockets to home in on a person’s infrared signature? That would be the sensors I’d be happy about deploying if we aren’t building walls.

You’re forgetting:

1) razor/chicken wire at the top
2) a “double fence” just 10 feet from the first one will also make a ladder useless

We will not have our land and homes taken for “non-contiguous” - useless - fences. “Come and take it!” is more than our history.

They have already come and are continually taking it from us.

Fences are effective in keeping people in, too, aren’t they?

The pain thing? That's a North Asian phenomenon, and many of it's best known examples are blue eyed blonds.

American Indians have a considerable percentage of North Asian ancestry.

There is a fence between India and Pakistan and now near completion between India and Bangladesh. There is no fence between India-Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
After fence, smuggling, abduction, stealing, terrorism stopped. High voltage is passed through fence and foundation is very deep to avoid tunnels. Plus Indian Border Security force patrol whole Pakistan and Bangladesh border. Zero tolerance for border abusers.
Now terrorist enter through sea or by air using fake passport.
After taking above measure, life had changed for people living near border area.

Border patrols would not require “taking” and would do better than the useless, non-contiguous fencing.

The Berlin Wall worked...
at keeping people imprisoned.

Is that what you want?

******************

To quote Yul Brenner from “the Magnificent Seven”:

“These walls are not to keep you out. They are to keep you IN.”

That’s the attitude behind the Berlin Wall. That is not the attitude behind the wall protecting Israelis, nor the wall proposed here.

Do you have a source link for that? I have 4 kids in school in Texas and your post is the first I have heard of what you claim.

4 kids and 4 years in TX and you’re breaking news to me.

Fences work in San Diego...

Really?

Here's one of those San Diego fences "working".

How many millions do you suppose this cost?

There is a LOT more to the gardasil issue than some of these guys will bother to discuss. They are the only perfect living humans who cannot tolerate imperfection in others or human systems.

Anything less than perfect is evil to them, so they see a LOT of evil around them!

You’re talking about a fence in the middle of the Rio Grande, right? Not about taking productive privately owned farm and ranch land from Texans, I’m sure.

Oh, but your friend Perry wanted to take "productive privately owned farm and ranch land from Texans" for his pet project, the Trans-Texas Corridor. Great guy, huh. But the corridor land IS productive land compared to the majority of the land along the border which is NOT. Doesn't the pro-Perry crowd claim the fence can't be built because of the horrible landscape and because it would go through Big Bend? Hmm, can't have it both ways. Can't very well have vegetables growing on top of a mountain or in the desert. I suppose my cattle weren't as smart as others since they couldn't climb mountains where that fence can't be built. And never mind all the hoop-la about Big Bend which isn't private land.

And it was no thanks to KBH that when we were supposed to build the fence, she allowed those down around Brownsville to file suit against it. That angered many citizens. Surely, you can't deny that in the head to head of the last election that many conservatives came out not to vote for Perry but to vote against KBH.

-"The modern Texas economy depends on Mexican laborers the way the old Georgia economy depended on African laborers"

Would there be a connection with what you say, and what i heard that the majority of Texas's 'job creation" is low wage labor?

Gardasil is shipped to public schools and the school nurse sends out letters to parents stating the shots are FREE to anyone who wants them.

Have you seen these letters? In 4 years with kids in Texan schools we have not seen a single one.

If you have one, I'd like to see it.

Personally, I think you're full of crap and spreading more crap than you accuse Perry of doing.

Did you change your mind because of Perry’s position, or never liked the idea of a fence? Fences are perfect but they help a whole lot. When Israel finished theirs the suicide bombers dropped off to almost none.

No NUMBNUTTS, You compensate the farmers(who want the fence to protect their properties from the invaders)and put the fence this side of the border. The fence along the border south of san diego works just fine.Whatever the cost, it is cheap compared to what will happen to this country if we dont build a fence. You need to wake the hell up.That is all, NUMBNUTTS.

Land mines, artillery practice, target practice, sniper training - all of this.

On the opposite side of my point that the best way to deal with illegals would be to target the business that hire them, I'd also like to point something out regarding how the situation will not be handled.

Anyone who is not familiar with the modern conventional military should realize that there is no way the U.S. Army is going to employ lethal force against unarmed men, women and children. It won't be ordered to, and even if it was, the orders wouldn't be obeyed at any level.

If that's your plan, then you don't have a plan.
