Investigators Probe White House Role in Massive Energy Loan
ABC News ^ | September 2, 2011 | By MATTHEW MOSK and RONNIE GREENE

House investigators said they have uncovered evidence that White House officials became personally involved in an Energy Department review of a hot-button $535 million loan guarantee to the now-failed California solar company Solyndra.

The allegation surfaced in a letter House Energy Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) sent to the White House Thursday night, saying he planned to accelerate efforts to understand an investment deal that may have left taxpayers out half a billion dollars.

"We have learned from our investigation that White House officials monitored Solyndra's application and communicated with [Department of Energy] and Office of Management and Budget officials during the course of their review," the letter says.

Thursday's letter, which calls on the White House to turn over correspondence between administration officials, Solyndra and its investors, presents the most pointed suggestion that the White House had direct involvement in the financing.

"How did this company, without maybe the best economic plan, all of a sudden get to the head of the line?" Upton told ABC News in an interview this week. "We want to know who made this decision ... and we're not going to stop until we get those answers."

Good.

This House investigation, probably instigated by the “extreme” Tea Party wing of the GOP, obviously has racial overtones...

Had this happened under the Bush Administration, change the name to Haliburton or Exxon and ABCNews wouldn’t be reporting on a committe investigation, there would be 100 seething reporters (read: liberal attack dogs) all over this story. We would have requests from Pinchie at the time for a task force of volunteers to rebuild the shredded documents from every office looking for anything out of line.

Let’s see how much integrity you have ABC. I’m happy to volunteer for the shred force.

Fred Upton is a left-wing RINO, who co-sponsored the ban on light bulbs a while ago.

Interesting to see whether he really means it, or whether he will gradually make this issue disappear. Frankly, I don’t trust him to do what he says.

Doesn’t it just give you a tingle up the leg, that Obama GAVE your hard earned money for a photo op./s
The Administration needed a fancy backdrop to make the ignorant masses believe there really is a Green Industry creating jobs. The only job this created was the Massive SNOW JOB.

Who was that guy who said that one of the factors leading to his conclusion that Obumbler was going to win next year was that there were no scandals in his administration?

Maybe he spoke too soon.

It’s hard to blame RINO Upton for his vote on that wreckless, porkfooted 2007 energy bill when Bush signed the damned thing.

The light bulb aspect is a miniscule entry in that legislation compared to the whole of that horrible package rammed down our throats.

And it is still costing jobs.

Worst bill Bush ever signed.

I thought I read that the key stockholder of Solyndra was a once George Kaiser, one of the richest men in the world, and a key zero fundraiser....

its the maifia thru out our govt....and its not going to stop....and even if we stop it,...it'll never get investigated and no one will be punished...

meanwhile, we go back to work and pay our taxes...send our kids to war....donate to charity and generally try to get by....
