One day, at the height of her fame in the mid-Seventies, Jane Fonda turned up on the doorstep of her ex-husband, Roger Vadim. She was lugging a bulging sack. Vadim’s glamorous new girlfriend let her in, thrilled to meet the movie icon at last. But her excitement soon turned to disbelief. The star of Julia, Klute and The China Syndrome had come to do her laundry. Why? Because her second husband, Tom Hayden, a Left-wing activist with a bulbous

Wow, I’d never heard of Unity Mitford. I went and did a little reading, and man, what a NUT! I swear, some of these rich folks’ children are just messes of chaos, hunger, and will, who’ll seek a strong hand in the darkest of places!

I worked in a liquor store in Santa Monica in the late 70’s(Surf Liquor), Jane would come in frequently to buy some Jack Daniels for her husband. She had a wandering eye for me, I thought she was overrated(as a sex symbol) and not too attractive and about as pretty as my mother.

In the 1940 “The Grapes of Wrath” it is said her daddy Henry Fonda pretty mush invented method acting (the total immersion in all aspects into the personality of the character played—what killed Heath Ledger (who played one too many perverts),and made Marlon Brando and Johnny Depp successful if sick superstars) and actually thus became a socialist to play a socialist part.
The pro-progressive fantasy of Fonda's Tom Joad made for a stellar performance but unfortunately set the stage for the red diaper waste of liberal byproducts Jane and Peter Fonda—cool for the Hippies and their brief irrelevant era yet a harmful delaying waste of time to the advance of America,

Her strong support for abortion and birth control for teenagers has always angered me. After this article, I believe she sees young girls through her own escapades. I wonder how many abortions and STDS she has had to deal with over her lifetime. Such decadence.

Yes the Mitford women are a case study in upper class craziness. Unity had the hots for Der Fuhrer. At least she just shot herself when war came and didn't hole up in the capital of the Reich and make propaganda broadcasts. Sister Jessica became a life long member of the Communist Party USA and was a loyal apparatchik in the Bay Area party fir decades. Another sister was a brilliant writer of mostly historical works who nurtured a virulent high Tory loathing of the US all her life. Wonderful folks all.

Child of privilege who changed causes as often as she changed men

Actually she just changed men, and they reformed her in their image

Post 2000, she became a Christian. Why?
http://askville.amazon.com/Jane-Fonda-Christian-convert/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=26404744

In her book, Fonda talks openly and passionately about her Christianity and how much it has meant to her but that like her life, her faith is still progressing. When she made the decision to become a Christian it was within the context of Evangelical Christian friendships but in the book she avoids describing that event in detail.

There was a man, a preacherman.

I see she is taking the “feel sorry for me approach”. What is she in her 70’s now and she still doesn’t take responsibility for her actions?

I suppose that explains something. Fonda, a card carrying liberal, was Mr. US Navy in tinsel town. His only rival was John Ford who was a rel Rear Admiral. Fonda first crossed paths with the Navy in “Mr. Roberts and his portrayal of the hard working self effacing thoroughly decent regular officer dealing with a nut case USNR CO is classic. Fonda got introduced to agroup of mid level officers at San Diego to study up on the character he was to play. He thought the officers were great and he really liked the sort of low key but emotionally reserved personality type that seemed to predominate in the surface officer fraternity. Latter he played a Nimitz like figure in “In Harms Way” and spent time hanging out with a number of
retired flag officers before filming to soak up their ethos. He was
introduced to Chester Nimitz and thought he was about the greatest man in the world. In fact in the last years of Nimitz life Henry Fonda was far loser to the five star admiral than he ever was to any of his children. Again it was the low key, technically competent, but very reserved personality Fonda strongly identified with. The Navy officer corps thought so highly of Fonda's presentation of the regular navy officer that the USN bestowed a special award on him at a gala at the Kennedy Center in the early 1980’s, I think.

Jane Fonda is only alive today only because I valued my
freedom more than her miserable life.

The opportunity was there.

Yeah, I actually know a LOT of people like that... they don’t really have any concept of other people as individuals whose feelings and well-being are of any importance. They are simply cardboard cut-outs propped up to face them and be an audience, or a target, or a helper, or a source of something, or furniture to be rearranged at will... it’s pretty common. But when you combine this mentality with power and/or money, these folks are lethal.

Footnote: One of the infamous Mitford sisters (Jessica -- aka Decca)became a communist and emigrated to the US during WWII. After her husband (a cousin) went missing after a Canadian bombing raid, she married Robert Truehaft (lawyer for the Communist Party USA) and settled in Oakland, CA. There she eventually played hostess to Hillary Rodham and her barely washed boyfriend, Bill Clinton, when Hillary worked in Truehaft's law firm as a summer intern.

Miscellaneous info about Jessica Mitford and Robt. Truehaft

Footnote 2: Robert Truehaft's law partner's (Bertram Edises) mentally ill son was one of the earliest patients in CA to be released and treated on an outpatient basis. Trouble is, he didn't take his meds and he "broke" into my apartment on a Sat. morning in 1961, or 62. I put "broke" in quote marks because my apartment door was standing open because my husband was out front helping a neighbor with his car. But, it was obvious that it was a private home. He walked up the stairs, into an entry, past my bedroom and the sleeping porch where my babies were napping, past the kitchen, past the bathroom, through the living room and was standing in the dining room when I climbed down a ladder from putting sleeping bags away in a closet. I was aghast when he confronted me in the middle of my dining room.

I'm sure you've heard Sarah's description of Mama Grizzlies. I turned into one in an instant when this strange (but well dressed) man could not answer me why he was there! All I could think of was my 2 babies asleep on the sleeping porch while this man had penetrated so far into my home! Screaming, I chased him down the stairs, and he vaulted over the railing and a hedge surrounding my front stoop. My husband and our neighbor pulled their heads out from under the hood of our neighbor's ailing car just in time to see this kid take off down the street. He tried to enter an elderly neighbor's home up the back stairs and was repelled by an angry lady with a broom.

My husband later caught up with him on the next street corner walking carefully down a crack in the sidewalk, one foot placed in front of the other like he was walking on a tightrope. The cops came and found that he had no ID on him -- just a razor blade in his pocket and the delusion that I was his sister who needed to be killed! (probably because I'd screamed at him and chased him)

I only offer these glimpses to observe that all these people are NUTS and they surround themselves with NUTS. From Fonda and Heyden to Hillary to Truehaft, Mitford, Edises, and their kids. NUTS. I'm sure that drug use had amore than a little to do with it.

Remember that Truehaft thought Hillary was so neat that he offered her a job in his firm in Oakland, but she oted to go serve on the Watergate Prosecution Committee where she was later fired for malfeasence. And the rest is history.

Her ticket to Hell has long been punched, and the sooner she gets there the better.

But at least a few of you guys have to admit she looked quite yummy in her Barbarella and Cat Ballou days!

Come on ... admit it ... the Commie bitch was cute in her time.
