Will Barack Obama condemn Biden and Hoffa for calling Republicans 'barbarians' and 'SOBs'

I enjoy political hardball as much as the next reporter. It’s barely concealed truth that campaign journalists, like the operatives we cover, love negative campaigning and revel in OTT insults and martial rhetoric. Even candidates often lapse into the language of “rip his throat out”, “tear his eyes out” or “drive a stake through her heart”.

It’s no secret either that many Republicans despise Democrats with a passion and vice versa. Just as British MPs hide their contempt of their opponents by referring to them as “the honourable member’, American politicians have their own, albeit less formal, ways of masking their true feelings with anodyne language for public consumption.

But the statements today by Jimmy Hoffa Jr and Vice President Joe Biden demean the presidency and, tactically speaking, are stupid own goals.

Hoffa, the Teamsters president, was warming up a Detroit crowd when he said: “President Obama, this is your army, and we are ready to march. Everybody here’s got a vote. If we go back, and we keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong.”

Biden, whose mouth has long been a liability for Obama, was at an AFL-CIO rally when he told union members: “You are the only folks keeping the barbarians from the gates…the other side has declared war on labour’s house.”

These comments were not nearly as bad as the statement last week by Congressman Andre Carson....

I think the closest “normal people” get to a Teamster is the UPS delivery guy. I plan to respectfully have a talk with the driver the next time he makes a delivery to let him know my opinion of Hoffa’s speech. I think we all should.

If I’m feel particularly P.O.ed that day, I might even have an AR broken down on the picnic table being cleaned.

As for Obama condemning anyone like Biden or the others didn't you know the memos go out every morning from inside the oval office telling these morons what to say..They just look up new words and deffinitons every morning to paste on anyone other than their ignorant selves..As for Barbarian I think they have it wrong since that is what they actually are and have been called many times..I think they just looked it up one day after being called that and said hey yeah that is the word we will attach on to the Conservatives..

I think it is really funny since the word fits them to a tee..

No matter how you dissect Hoffa's entire speech, his message to his Teamster thugs, and all union thugs, was loud and clear.

This is a War and we have an Army. We will physically 'Take Out By Force' all Republican opponents, voters, and their supporters -- Tea Party member or not.

We saw what SEIU goons did at Town Hall Meetings. Hoffa has now thrown down the gauntlet and issued a FATWA.
