PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comcast Corporation Chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts and Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter today announced the launch of Internet Essentials, a program which provides families in Philadelphia with children who are eligible to receive free lunches under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) with low-cost Internet service, affordable computers and digital literacy training. The goal of Internet Essentials is to help close the digital divide and ensure more Americans benefit from all the Internet has to offer. The program addresses what research has identified as the three primary barriers to broadband adoption– 1) a lack of understanding of how the Internet is relevant and useful; 2) the cost of a home computer; and 3) the cost of Internet service.

"The digital divide"? Likely not similar to "the Continental Divide."

Another example of what the Obama DOJ requires if you want a merger approved during this administration.

AT&T could learn from Comcast if it really wants to merge with T-Mobile.

My current contract with Comcast expires in 5 months and I'll be cancelling and telling them the reason.

I will not pay these pricks $ 1,800 a year for stuff I don't really want {but am forced into with their bundling} and then using part of my funding for the "poor kids" in philly and atlanta.

Wonder how much of it will be used for productive Internet surfing versus downloading porn.

Maybe it should be treated like food stamps — you are only allowed to buy certain things with food stamps.
